I only know wizards in books, so the need for the clarification seemed like a good idea -- I didn't want to assume after all. [ she does sound slightly apologetic to it though, as she really didn't mean to insulting - if that is what she did. ]

Magicians are non-magical people pretending to do magic. [Or in other words, muggle morons.] There is a vast difference.

Where I come from, there is an entirely ~~superior~~ magical culture. Not that the non-magical population has any inkling of it. And yes—constantly.
