[ There’s nothing remarkable about Erik’s stride that would call to Tony’s attention.

The thump and rattle of a spool of copper wire the size of a large ottoman (or a smaller than average Avenger) cratering the earth in his shadow has more weight to it, when it drops.

The copper is thick and clean and pure -- it glitters in the sun. Erik is lean and scruffy and clouded over blind in one eye, expectant. His clothes are worn. He might pass for military if the arrogance in his shoulders conveyed even the barest sense of discipline.

The spool of wire lifts and deposits itself at the indicated marker without him paying it much heed. It stinks -- an acrid metal stench that stings at the eyes. Still radiating heat.

Not very different from the look Erik has slanted past the tool in his hand to Stark’s shoeless feet, judgment burning in lukewarm through his heels. He’s already underwhelmed. ]
