[Since coming out of the Jump with four years of new memories and six months of isolation, William has organized his thoughts somewhat. Most importantly: happiness requires survival. Apart from that, some nebulous but helpful facts about manifestations and the way that Clarke Griffin's life sucks unadulteratedly lately. He has this on his mind when he gets to typing.]
william tsang again. i'm a dr. now but you can just call me william.
for the past 3 weeks, ms. clarke griffin and i have been working on using manifestations to replicate equipment and supplies. we've determined that magical effects won't manifest (e.g., potions), but functioning technology can be duplicated to the extent that the person knows what the fuck they're doing. the effects will outlast the manifestation. although we haven't worked a lot on anything besides what the department needs, this probably applies to other stuff you're interested in.
please share your tech specs, but don't leave advanced weapon details unlocked/unfiltered. you may want to direct those remarks to xg, sec, or gunnery. thanks.
do you have an intermediate-to-advanced understanding of biochemistry, physics, and technology as it relates to medicine? let us know. we may have some stuff to share with you. thanks to the regular occurrence of disasters/emergencies, most of our work is focused on triage, mobility, and crisis stabilization. the medical bay is equipped to provide practice.
our current replicable medical inventory includes:
- procoagulants
- handheld cauterization devices (heat, but also laser, chemical)
- defribillators
- epinephrine/injectors
these resources may be extremely helpful while we have our abilities, but dangerous too; again we need you to practice until it works or not fuck around. we may also be able to advance your knowledge thanks to our new abilities. dr. bones mccoy and tadashi hamada are especially tech-savvy, and might be willing to provide more guidance. i will be consulting about manifestations of tech that's more invasive or is of risk disproportionate to the scenarios you're likely to need them in.
again, galadriel is deputy cmo should i be kia/whatever. cheers.
OOC: Corresponding mod note here. You can also fire me questions/corrections via Plurk/PM. Sorry for the spontaneous name-drops, Medbay! Note that ~practice~ involves cloned tissue rather than human experimentation. I can start a log if you like!

Not sure if anyone aside from me will be able to manifest him, but I can try to be on hand when we need an extra set of hands to have him help out.

i mean i await your file upload with baited breath.

professor xavier is recommending that multiple people have a go at sharing the psychic load, but i'm not very up and up on robotics or mechanical physics. and mccoy's already telling me off-- well you can see for yourself.
i'll let you know if this practice is frying my brain before you get much further.

I can't exactly say I'm in favor of playing with the weird shit our minds can do now. We've got no clue about the long term shit this could do to our minds. But. It's not like we got a ton of choice and in a dire situation it could save a life.
Maybe we can set up some kinda workshop for people interested.
Also I'd like to see this 'healthcare assistant' idea you've got going on.

I have some concerns about long term effects, as well. If it's an emergency, you're right -- we don't have many choices. I would rather be prepared.
I can send you more details. Alternatively, I can show you the skeletal structure I've already completed in my lab. It's close to the finished product, but it's taking some time to finish machining the actuators. Adapting to the computer systems here has been the real struggle. I'm still not certain my coding will be compatible. It's worth a shot, though.

i suppose! to be honest, i think it was the ship's idea and the ship is a brainwashing murderous mass-kidnapper, so probably my casually dropping words like 'so weapons specs' around is actually part of some horrifying and inexorable fateful
ok.
shutting it with the gloom and doom but you can say something saucy if you like.

no. well i suppose i'm being-- a lot of us are being lazy with language in a way that isn't helpful. i don't honestly think it's the ship itself, but something inhabiting, animating the ship. another passenger, maybe? multiple entities? i'm not sure any of them are alive, honestly. when i've picked up blood and other samples in the past for analysis, it's often done this weird fucking thing where it vanishes over the course of the jump, no matter how locked up tight.
and the lab equipment hasn't been able to recognize any matter was present. as if there wasn't a single molecule there. strangely at odds with some of my science department predecessors, who were able to get a genetic breakdown of manticore blood.
your head's better off than mine, according to charles x. it got me pretty good. a lot of us went out on recon ended up changed. vulnerable to compulsion.
sorry, love. i know that's a lot.

how's the staying power of the objects you manifest so far?

[With weapons too, he means. But it doesn't feel nice to go on about it, so he doesn't.]
oddly the greater/more lasting successes have given me headaches. i think clarke too, although she's got a very stiff upper lip.
(yes.)

but I see how it would be more suitable to emergency settings
I might be by later to practice
(well done.)

Maybe we should have a full on Medbay meeting. If we can get some readings while we're making these manifestations, see how the brain is coping after the fact, I'd feel a lot better about it.
I can't deny that having our tech available to 'manifest' in an emergency could save a life.
psst if you haven't already feel free to ask on the mod post about the scan results c:
i did give myself a bloody big headache just now. and i've got scans say some effects on the ship have left significant changes to neuro-anatomy before, not the least of which is-- well, in the interest of privacy, i'll want to show that to you later.
saving lives is my motivation, for fucking sure. but you're right, it's best to have as clear a picture of the cost involved as possible.
ah THANK YOU I'm going to read up on that! ty ty :D and sorry he's yelling at u
Can someone there look you over? I can come in and run some tests, wait there.

for medbay's part, anything you can think of for maybe pain relief, wound stabilization, that sort would be good.

I should hope this need not be said, but please do be safe. Aside from the fact that I have grown quite fond of you, you will send me into a panic if I am suddenly required to oversee all of this advanced technology myself.
