[There’s a little shuffling and confusion as the camera is adjusted to just the right angle. A frowning face takes the place of the blurred hand that blocked the lens a moment ago and Tadashi fiddles with the feed a moment more before stepping back.

He hesitates, then pulls a baseball cap onto his head after running his hand back through his hair.

There. Everything is settled. Tadashi tugs a lopsided smile into place, but his expression is still thoughtful.]

This is Tadashi Hamada speaking.

[Another hesitation. He runs one hand over his face.]

My brother and I have been on board this... this ship for a few days now. I haven’t met many of you in person yet, so I wanted to go ahead and introduce myself. I'm taking the time to go through all of the information that's been provided and I'm still working on getting my bearings, but I just wanted to say that I'm willing to help out wherever I'm needed for now.

Back home I was a student of robotics. I was working with AI systems as well. If that's of any use to anyone, please don't hesitate to call on me.

[Tadashi offers something of a half smile, reaches forward, then disconnects the feed.]

[He has absolutely no idea where to start -- actuators? Programming? General theories of applied robotics?]

We can talk theories and laws... actual applications.... What did you have in mind?

[Half, technically. It's never been much of a big deal in San Fransokyo, though.]

[As for robots... Tadashi offers a casual shrug. It's easy to see that behind the nonchalance he's actually rather proud of himself.]

A robotic healthcare assistant. It was my robotics project at school.

Nothing too science fiction. I put a lot of coding into my project. He couldn't operate the way I designed him without his learning software.

[It's not his specific area of study, but he is Tadashi -- he's skimmed a little bit of everything if it relates even vaguely to what he wants to do.]

I understand the basic mechanics well enough. Are we talking replacement limbs?

Not. Exactly? I have spinal injuries that fuck with my legs sometimes. It's under control now and I'm on crutches...

[ Sam isn't good with describing technological things that she desires. ]

...but I didn't know if there was a thing that existed that could, stabilize it?

[Harry pushes his glasses up and smiles.] We could really use skills like yours over here. It'd be the best place, I think. For you as well as us I'd hope. [Yes. us. there's a wizard in Engineering.]

[Oh boy. Tadashi's starting to realize that there are some decisions in his future.]

I won't pass up a tour if you're offering.

[Harry nods easily, folding his arms on the table.] Sure, mate, [he says.] I'm only a trainee, but I know the names and basics of most things in there now. [Well, most things that are need-to-know, at any rate. Naturally some of Tadashi's more high-fallutin' questions will be met with 'it's a thing that does something to do with pressurization. I think,' and sidelong glances exchanged with random pipes.]

You can bring your brother as well, if you like.

[For his part, Hiro's been staying in the background and tinkering with his helmet and gloves and not interrupting because Tadashi's doing the social thing. Hiro's not good at being social - better now than before, but still - so he's just going to leave it to his brother.

Still, all this talk about engineering and people asking about A.I. and whatnot... It's hard not to listen to at least some of it.]

So-- Are you gonna become an engineer here?

[Tadashi puts the communicator aside for a moment to offer a shrug.]

It's worth thinking about.

[Putting Baymax back together is more in line with his interests. Not having his buddy ready to go after all of that work leaves him antsy to set up a lab and start over. As much as it pains him to admit it, though.... there might be more important things that come first.]

It's whatever I need to do. We need to lend a hand however we can if we want to get home.

[He just shrugs, raising his helmet up over his head so he can inspect it from below.] Maybe.

It just sounds like you're sending out a mass job application or something.

[Hey, it's Rikku! Tadashi offers an amused look in return.]

I'm still weighing my options.

[He gestures at her machines.]

Well met, Tadashia Hamada. [Lúthien smiles as she turns on her own communicator. He looks kind of young but it's hard to judge how old anyone is on this ship.] I am Lúthien, daughter of King Thingol.

I fear I know nothing at all of robotics or AI systems but if in your work you need medical aid, I work in the science department.

[So he's gone from being trapped in a science fiction movie to a fantasy book? Tadashi's not really sure what to make of it, so he instead offers a half smile.

Is she actually the daughter of a king? Should he address her in some way because of that?]

[His attention is caught at the mention of medical aid and he perks up.]
