[Someone's bored, sitting in one of the kitchens (on a counter in fact) and just looking bored. So she grabs her communicator and flicks it on.]
I have been here for some time now and I have realized that I really do not know so many people as I would like. And so many of you here are Secondborn- ah, humans. So I have a few questions.
[She smiles pleasantly enough but-]
Does having round ears affect your hearing?
My people consider long hair important, a standard for beauty. Many of you do not have long hair, what do you consider beautiful if not that? I know that dwarves find beards beautiful but most of you are bare-faced.
And your lives are so short. Is that why most seem in such a rush? Is that why you cannot hear the trees or animals? You are in too much of a rush to listen?
[Lúthien no.]

[Too much of a rush...]
I find it easier to listen when there's less going on around me.
video
I suppose that would help. Not many people ever really stop to listen even then though.

Do you know, there are solely humans at home so I have not...a lot of these thoughts have never crossed my mind, but I can try to help, as I am able.
Our ears...I would imagine that compared to the shape of others...you are elven, yes? [He's met, or at least vaguely spoken to a few elves he's seen on the networks here.] Well, it must be DIFFERENT in some way, but I am not certain HOW.
As far as beauty...I think that it depends on where, perhaps WHEN, someone is from. Long hair IS...I do consider it beautiful, but mine does not like to grow so very nicely as all of that, and beards...they go in and out of fashion. They were popular, at home, among those who shared my politics but then, again, for me, they got into the way...
You might HEAR trees and animals? [He's beaming, actually, at the prospect.] Oh but that sounds REMARKABLE. I do...there are some creatures I am FOND of but I was not aware they had any abilities of speaking for our earshot. That's FASCINATING.
Video:
I can barely imagine a world with just humans. So you have no elves or dwarves? No Maia or Valar? [it's so weird!]
I am, yes! Half elf and half maia. So I suppose I may be a poor judge on how well hearing compares between the races.
[His world sounds so strange, she has trouble imagining some things. Long hair being attractive at a certain time, how silly. And boring.]
Oh yes! Trees and animals and even stone, they all have voices. My mother is the one that taught nightingales their song.

I don't think everyone can hear animals, I think it depends on the person? I don't think it has anything to do with the shape of our ears though. And beauty is different depending on who you ask or where they are from.
[He's not going to answer the one about age though, that could get complicated. He's trying to pry the communicator out of Kuma's curious paws.]
video;
I know that my people can and one person has said that a few among Men can hear the trees and animals. [It's weird. Everyone is weird.]

Trees can't talk. They're made out of wood. ...and they don't have mouths.
Video
They can talk. Their voices are simply different and hard, it seems, for other races to hear.

Does yours always look so bangin' because of elf magic, or do you just have a hot line on awesome conditioner?

I can hear fine... at least, I think I can. No one has ever said I couldn't hear them correctly.
[They've had a lot of other things to say, but not that.
She pulls the communicator away from her ear, now, and you can see that her light blonde hair is long and luminous and plentiful, although maybe not as long as that of the woman she's speaking to.]
We like long hair in Arendelle, too. I have it, my sister has it... our mother had it. Most of the women do.
If you listen to the trees, what do they say?
[She sounds genuinely interested, not derisive. If Luthien is so exceptionally beautiful, and not human, and can hear the trees and animals as more than just elements of the environment, what else can she do?]
[Wow, Elsa could be an elf. Or so Lúthien thinks.]
Just the women? That is what seems strangest to me. Where I am from, everyone values long hair. My fathers nearly reaches the ground. And Daeron's hangs around his waist. [She's used to short hair on men by now, thanks to being on the ship, but it's still strange.]
Trees say all sorts of things, they live the same as your or I. Some even sing sometimes.

Long hair just gets in the way. [ which is why charlotte keeps hers short and/or braided, but okay onto more pressing questions — ] Do you actually talk to trees, or are you making fun of us?
[ she doesn't get the joke. ]
no subject
Not if braided and pinned. [Duh!]
I do not jest. Trees, animals, even stone, all have voices of their own.

[ as for the rest-- ]
What do plants and animals have to say that's so important to listen to?

Your kind? May I ask what kind that is? I think I've an idea, but I'd really hate to be rude. And I would certainly wear my hair long again if it was in fashion to do so and if my hair was not so wild. I'd sooner tame a lion in the wild than keep up with it.
I'm afraid I can't speak for humans and their lives, except that they have to face their own mortality and understandably would want to make the most of the time they have. [England smiles, though it's a little sad.]
video;
Eldar, or elves as most know us. [She tilts her head slightly, looking at him carefully.] Hm, I think it might look nice. Especially if you found a way to tame it while long.
How do they do it though? There is so much to see and do, how does anyone choose what to do?
