[ The breath Odessa draws in before continuing is ragged, it betrays her fear. ]

Subject complained of blurred vision and showed signs of labored breathing prior to loss of consciousness. Pulse is weak, and breathing remains shallow.

[ Her voice finally cracks with the first of her sobs: ] Please, somebody help.

she's already moving when she responds, odessa can almost certainly tell. )

You know his fucking name, Odessa, ( which is snapped, and a bit unfairly. does odessa even know they're at all related? who knows. ilde has probably heard more about her from her brother than she has from odessa herself in the months prior to marcus' arrival, because emery's children have never felt that discretion applies to each other. )

[ She's attempting to approach this like the trained professional she is, apparently, but the fact that she's crying now shows that it's a losing battle. The fact that she doesn't question why Ilde is the first to respond to her call suggests that Odessa's aware of her connection. If... not precisely what that connection is. ]

( ilde has more details of the nature of odessa's connection to her (idiot) brother than she might've actually wanted to get in the first place, because marcus has a big, horrible mouth. the more you know. )

[ There's a quiet thunk that accompanies the communications device being set down, presumably on the floor or a table. ]

Ilde... I'm so sorry. Is there anything I need to know? Allergies or...?

( odessa seems to soften, but ilde-- doesn't, really, because she's not good at caring about people and she tends to do it fiercely if at all. she doesn't acknowledge anything but the question because that's what she can immediately deal with. )

He needs fresh water and to be kept away from iron, otherwise it'll be harder to treat him. Whatever you end up using, the rule of thumb is to take whatever the dosage is for an adult human man, halve it and see if he needs more.

[ That is not what she expected to hear, and yet it's not entirely a surprise either. ]

I see. I should have... Yes, I see. How much water is he going to need?

There should still be a tub there from my last stay. He probably doesn't need to be in it constantly.

I'm glad to know they'll have a set-up for him, then.

[ It occurs to Odessa then that Ilde hasn't asked why she's here. While she sounds agitated, that's something she can comprehend. Fear for a loved one does that to people, but Odessa sincerely doubts that it would have clouded Ilde's thoughts enough for her not to ask why Odessa of all people is calling for help on Marcus' behalf. Which means she must already know. Well, she supposes she should be grateful that this will cause them to skip some awkward explanations on her arrival. ]

( ilde doesn't really know enough about odessa to object, but she knows enough about marcus to be resigned to the fact that if he fucks this up too badly, she's going to be the one cleaning the mess up after him, because he's never made a mess he wouldn't shamelessly leave in the hands of the women of his family.

[He's guessing it's Marcus McDoucheington. But he's her douche, so John's worried on her behalf. He'll just... sit around nervously, waiting for her call.]
