Right.
[The feed is muffled for a moment, as if he's covering the input with his fingers. He is. It takes Cullen a few moments of shuffling around before he's got the communication device where it needs to be and the sound starts coming through a little clearer.]
My name is Cullen. I'm rather new around here. Before the, uh. Before this, I was the commander of a small army- prior to that, I served as a templar for over a decade. [A pause. Different worlds, different military factions, so it warrants a short explanation.] -the Templar Order is... it's like a holy order tasked with protecting others from the harmful effects of magic.
[Well, actually... ugh, close enough, also not really the point of this message. Moving on.]
Anyway, I've spent the past few weeks here familiarizing myself with the situation that everyone is in and in light of recent events, I'd like to offer my help. I'm not sure how the chain of command works here, but if I can be of assistance, then I'd be happy to.
[He moves to shut the feed off, but then as an afterthought-]
-also, can someone tell me where the training grounds are? If you have that sort of thing here? I feel like I've been wandering around in circles.

Also I think the gyms are what you're looking for.
Text
[And- well.]
I apologize, I do not know what a gym is.
Text
I think she's in charge. I'd get in touch with her.
And the gyms are the large rooms with access to the pools. There's a lot of exercise equipment in them as well. People use them to train or practice fighting and stuff like that.

[He still finds the lack of a centralized command structur on a spaceship bizarre]
Military experience would be most useful in security or gunnery depending on the specifics.
Voice
[Considering that he only has a vague idea of what a gunnery is, the result should be clear.]
What sort of specifics?

[He offers her a bit of a self deprecating smile- fully aware that he's out of his depths and has been since he arrived.]
So I suppose that would be my first choice.

[Especially since the only battle Dorian has seen him in is the one where Haven was razed to the ground and they were forced to flee to the mountains. Not that it's entirely Cullen's fault, but still- not a bright spot on the resume.]
...I think. I'm- [Not sure what to say to that? Not really used to being complimented, really, however airy the words may be.] -I can assure you that I've done my duties as they were required of me. Leliana has had enough to tend to as it is.

>Levi will remember that ]
There's a few different places for that. [A pause, like he's trying to decide whether or not to make it glaringly obvious how unfamiliar he is with so much of the things the Tranquility has to offer... Oh well. He's not ashamed, fuck it:] Lot of complicated junk around, machines you can use to run and others with weights attached... [One of the rooms had even had beams like the one's he'd gotten use to back home. NICE. That other shit, though... It's like these people have never heard of a god damn pushup... CHRIST.] But if you're looking to do something simple there's space for that too. I can try and walk you through getting there if you tell me where you are, or I can show you.
[He wants to practice getting around more quickly anyway. The Tranquility is pretty big and he's still can't navigate the common areas in his sleep WHAT A FAILURE.]

[But he appreciates being shown. This place is kind of large and empty and unnerving, yet... somehow claustrophobic at the same time. Ugh. Either way, Cullen appreciates the offer for help and glances down to where his sword is resting on his belt.]
I'm mostly experienced in swordplay, though I was not given a shield here. Someone else mentioned an archery range, which I can attempt to practice at, but- not exactly my area of expertise.

I'm interested in knowing more about the Templars, if you'd be comfortable discussing it.

Of course. Is there anything in particular you wanted to know?

[ not here. ]
voice;
There's enough space in the gyms to practice nearly anything, although it does occasionally get rather... quiet and eerie.
[If there aren't many people in it. Sometimes Fortescue is all alone there, and it feels like the ship is empty.]
voice;
[That sounds odd, but who knows? Maybe there's some strange, technological reason for that as well.]
I'm most skilled with a sword, but I can try anything. I'm sure that there'll be at least a few new things to try and get used to while I'm there.

I'm Chief Medical Officer by the way. You can call me William. I head up things in the facility attached to the gravcouches, so when you've incurred some injuries in the line of duty, protecting the innocent and so forth, you can come around and me and mine will see to you.
text;
I noticed the area before. What exactly do you do? The post from Support said that the medical staff handles dietary needs as well, so I'm assuming it's not merely a place for healing combat injuries.

voice ; now that you've got all the serious suggestions out of the way...
[ Go home, Hawke. You're drunk. ]
Look, I'm not saying to sit around like dead weight... No. Wait. That might actually be what I'm saying. Because that sounds kind of fantastic.
voice ; oh hawke, some things never change
I do want that. It may not be ideal, but if I have the skills and experience to protect others, then I have no reason not to do so. [There's a slight pause, and then-] I've been a soldier for most of my life. This is what I know, and so I'll stick to it.
oh gosh i am so late i'm so sorry
no worries! <3
