As you are no doubt aware, presently we are dealing with the threat presented by the boggart that has been released aboard the ship. On behalf of Xenogen, I wish to share the following information.

• Although we are only aware of one boggart having been released, sightings and encounters indicate that it has multiplied somehow and we are not currently certain how many roam.
  
• Contrary to previously supplied information, these creatures appear to be dying.

Our request:

• If you are able, please inform Xenogen - via this post or through contacting one of us individually - your whereabouts when sighting the creatures, as well as the timing of the sightings and how they present themselves.
  
• If you have killed one of them, please inform us with some detail as to how.

I encountered one near the pods a few days ago.

It took the form of a person that had a parasite inside their body.

there isn't enough data to sufficiently answer. if the creature falls along the same parameters for death then yes, but there could be other factors. what do we know about incorporeal forms

a man, then two men. could the method of termination be linked to the form it assumes? men are easy to kill. some of these monsters are not.

That could well be. Perhaps if you had envisioned, say, a werewolf of classic myth, you may have needed silver in order to stop it, as it would have been the only method expected to work.

volunteers could be useful. is there time for a sign up sheet? if fears with specific death patterns are brought to a specific place and attempted killings are documented more could be learned about eradicating the new problem.

That is an excellent idea. [ Though, you know, the volunteerism thing isn't strictly necessary is it? ] Speaking of volunteering, have you considered joining a department? My department, specifically.

Someone else has managed to apparently terminate one as well. We weren't sure at the time why it appeared that way, but it could easily be a condition of the duplicates, or extensions, whatever they may be.

are there forms of containment available on the ship? if one could be killed in an observable space we could understand more about the differences.

There are plenty set up in the Xenogen labs.

have the new species shown interest in fatally wounding their targets? there's a risk, there's always a risk but if someone could lure one to containment the benefits could be worth it.

If they feed on fear, and are loose of other restrictions, it's likely that we would observe such aggression simply due to the nature of some fears, regardless. Your suggestion has a great deal of merit.

there are more than enough to go around, no one will miss one if it was taken for observation. really it would benefit everyone if we knew how easily they bled. not all fears are men, would the fear be harder to kill in a harder form?

I encountered a boggart with a young woman named River. As it was changing shapes to a creature from my own world, I fought it off with the regular counterspell. I tried to capture it afterward and accidentally killed it by smashing it into a wall instead. River seems to have some insight into what's going on. I'll try to get her on the comms to talk to you about what she believes she's seen. I'm afraid I'm having trouble understanding her.
