We wouldn't happen to have a veterinarian on board, would we?
[Fortescue appears to be in her room, looking tired — exhausted, even — and rubbing at her forehead. Adding to the tired motif is the fact that her accent is downright aggressive. Her mother would have been scandalized. An Imperian accent is supposed to be light and graceful, after all.
Jazz is, for once, nowhere in the frame. That might be a first while on the Tranquility.]
I have a sick cat who could use some help.
[And nothing from her world is here, which means she's out of her depth as to how to help.]

Sometimes he eats a weird thing and spends some time doing this, but he recovers faster.
no subject
Has he been sick before? Like this?
no subject
He's never been like this, no. Once he had a cold and laid around for a bit, but there was no vomiting for that.
It's the weird possibilities that are worrying me.
[If Jazz dies? That's potentially very bad for her, too, depending on how damaged her soul actually is. There's no way to tell until it's back home and she's either "eccentric" or "completely bonkers".]

( Or people with the crap they've all been through. Or maybe just this ship )
They've fixed worse on us. He probably just ate something he shouldn't have.
no subject
Probably ate a space cockroach and got more than he planned for.
That would be rather like him.
no subject
You going to be alright till they get there?
no subject
I won't tempt fate by listing what /could/ happen.
But he's lasted this long, he can wait for someone to walk here.
He's a tough little monster. No amount of shrapnel kept him down during the war.

I heard about the chickens not being well. Are any more sick?

[Full disclaimer, she has no medical background other than stitching herself up, and she knows it.]
It seems odd to me that avians, cats and rabbits are getting it, and not us. [She rubs, hard, at her eyes with her free hand.] We do share a few sicknesses with domesticated animals, I think. Not many, but a few.
no subject
If we all get sick again, I swear, it was bad enough last time.
no subject
Last time?
[That doesn't sound good.]

[She's still frowning as she turns that over in her head.]
Our animals don't have the nanites, do they?

[Except that's slightly more worrying for Jazz, and her frown deepens.]

That would be amazing, if you would. He's been throwing up.
[And acting rather pathetic, which is all the more heartbreaking considering how macho he tries to act, most of the time.]
no subject
I'll do what I can.

[For now, maybe. Hard to tell for sure. She furrows a brow, glancing off-screen at her cat, as concerned as she is exhausted.]
He's much more lethargic than usual.
Video
Your cat's sick too?
Video
Yes, I'm afraid he is. Quite sick. Do you have a cat, too, love?
Video
A kitten. He's only little.
[Hence the worry]
Video
I'm sorry to hear it. What's his name?
[She turns her comm slightly to show the sleek black cat, lying on his side on the bed, lethargic, eyes closed.]
This is Jazz.
Video
[The screen also moves to a lethargic looking kitten. A few months old and clearly carefully cared for.]
Carolyn gave him to me, after I took care of all of them when she went to the halls.
[And Carolyn is gone now so he can't ask her for help like he would]
Video
He's very cute. Tell you what, I have a few people coming to check on Jazz. Why don't I direct them to you, after, so they can have a look at Lamarque?
[If they'd be so kind. But she doesn't imagine most people would fuss too much. This is a boy and his kitten, after all.]
Re: Video
[Let it never be said he's not learned manners. Though it might be a bit of a mystery where he's managed it.]
I don't want anything to happen to him.
Video
The people on this ship are very clever. Try not to worry too much. Where's your room, love?
Video
Have you found any doctors for animals yet?
Video
[Her smile is something between a smile and a cringe, because it would be really nice to have a veterinarian right about now.]
But apparently we have some people with broad experience. I'll be sure to let them know where you are. We've got all that fancy equipment in medical, if it comes to that.
Video
Coufeyrac's a doctor, but we don't have anything even a little bit like that at home.
[He considers the option]
This doesn't really seem like a problem leeches would fix.
Video
Leeches don't fix many problems, love. I don't think we have any aboard the ship, anyway. And if we do, I wouldn't want to meet them.
[Space leeches... or grav couch leeches? That's a terrifying thought...]
Please pretend that said Combferre and I didn't mix up my own castmate's names.
I think.
[He doesn't actually know. It's not like he ever went to one.]
Your secret's safe with me.
[Just, you know. For the boy's general information.]
But it doesn't surprise me that the ship would give him some. The ship gives people all sorts of awful things.
Eeeexcellent
Did they ever find a way to deal with cholera?
[He's still worried about Lamarque, but he can't help being curious]
Video
Yes. That was one of the first things we developed a cure for, I think. [Then again, her world isn't exactly like others.] Where I'm from, children don't catch many viruses or diseases.
Re: Video
[To live in such a world]
A lot of people were dying of cholera, in Paris.
Video
[It's certainly not cholera that has a grip on their animals. ...although maybe cholera doesn't exist in this universe and there's no cure for it, as a result, but those are things better left unsaid to the boy.]
Video
Last time the problem was nanites, but our animals don't have any, so it can't be that...
Video
[From what she's gleaning about the previous issue, as well as the nature of the ship itself.]
Perhaps the nanites are why we aren't also puking our guts out.
video
Usually, I practice on people, but even then I have to stretch my skillset to suit the situation.
[ She smiles gently. ]
Would you like me to take a look?
video
I wouldn't mind, if you don't. He's past the disgusting bit. Or seems to be. But now he's just... lethargic.
[I.e. the part where he was throwing up a lot.]
