[The changes are noticeable to anyone who has an eye for details. There are small cuts and bruises on Hermione's face and hands as she focuses on the network feed. But her calm demeanor and quiet determination say far more for how she has changed.]

I'm back. Months passed for me in my world and I didn't recall anything about the ship. However, now that I've returned, my memories are intact.

[Succinct and to the point. She is searching for information in the same manner she would comb a library.]

In case I have been gone for longer than a couple of months, my name is Hermione Granger. I was onboard for about six months before I was transported back. I worked in the Xenobiology and Genetics Department - a position I am very interested in continuing.

[She purses her lips pensively, shuffling through some notes.]

What I need most is information. I will find some way to compensate you for your trouble. Thank you.

[The feed ends with a sharp click.]

Thank God you have returned to us, Lady Grainger. I had thought.. ( the worst, naturally. but enough of dark thoughts, when her return is a reason to smile, a much-needed beacon of hope among the sadness caused by the many recent departures. )

I can assist you most ably, and for no cost other than your continued friendship and goodwill.

Lady Elizabeth... [She isn't entirely sure about the title. Should she use "Your Majesty" or "Queen Elizabeth" instead? Her awe over talking to the Elizabeth of York hasn't faded.] You have my friendship whether you help me or not.

I was able to see the end of the war I was so worried about and we were victorious.

( hermione is the recipient of a small, relieved smile from elizabeth. ) As you shall ever have mine. I am most gladdened to hear thus.

What manner of information do you require, my friend? I shall tell you all that I am able.

( that's some good news! her smile grows warmer, reaching her eyes so as to make them sparkle. )

Congratulations on a victory well-won! Thanks be to God that you are safe, my dear friend.

[How can she not relax and enjoy the simple joy of a unhurried conversation?]

Do you know how long I've been gone? We can start there. [Then she can work her way towards helping those on the ship better. Before she had been so heart-sick and scared. But now...

She knows everything is okay. No matter what the ship does to her, she will be okay.]

It's a huge relief for everyone, but especially for... Well, I thought one of my best friends was killed, but he wasn't.

[She has no idea how Harry pulled it off - not that it matters. Somehow, Dumbledore had it worked out.]

( elizabeth purposefully keeps the pace of the conversation relaxed and unhurried, because there is no need for urgency in the least. still smiling quietly, she settles herself in front of her comm device and sets about filling her friend in. )

One month, to the day, nearly. Or rather, one jump cycle.

( especially a huge relief for hermione, it seems. and for that, she is truly glad. just as much as she would be were the conflict in her own country over and done with. quietly, she crosses herself, her features softening. )

That is most heartening news. Is he faring well, now that the conflict is over? And the rest of your people?

You weren't gone long.

[It's a flat answer, just straight facts. Succinct and to the point on this end as well, apparently. He reclines back in his seat, arms crossed over his chest, studying her face. The scratches and bruises, what the hell's up with that?]

Things weren't exactly a cakewalk and a knitting circle back home, I take it?

I'm glad for that, strangely. [Not that she wants to be on the ship, but if she has to be, it's best if she doesn't miss much.] No, it wasn't easy. Still, we won the final battle. Now we just need to work on repairing the damage done to both worlds.

[There's a moment wherein visible realization dawns across his face. So, that's what's going down back home. His lips press together for a second while his mind turns over what he remembers from that whole story. Not a lot of the finer details, if he's honest, and that's probably for the best.]

James told me about the war.

[He responds finally, nodding his head slowly.]

That stuff never ends without a lot of hits on both sides.

[Meaning, even if hadn't read the books or seen the movies, it isn't hard to guess there were probably casualties. Friends. Family. Whatever. So he offers up a solemn:]

Sorry for your loss.

He would have told you about the First War - not the Second. [Both were bloody and cost many people - Witches, Wizards and Muggles alike - their lives.] We have time to grieve now. I never thought that would be a luxury.

[She nods and smiles, acknowledging that he too has suffered from battle. There are subtle signs of it, but she won't ask.]

I'm very glad to hear that. [ c: ] Well, I'm afraid I couldn't tell you exactly how long you've been gone, but... I don't think much has changed! Nothing that I can remember, anyway.

So the ship hasn't treated you too badly? [It's something she worries about - particularly when nice people are involved.]

For that, I'm relieved, however I do have a question I've been meaning to ask for some time. Is there such a thing as a blood bank on the ship?

of course not a blood bank? medical bay has facilities for cloning/generating blood for transfusions and vampiric feeding and the like, I'm given to understand dare I ask?

We come from different time periods and, sometimes, even different worlds. I'd like to compare the blood cells up close and see if there are any differences.

In my worlds, Magic can be genetic, but it can also appear at random - or not - in various families. As far as I know, none of my relatives are Magic users, yet I'm a Witch. I wonder if the differences can be seen.

[ Severus knows that he dies; it's a relief to know there's an end, even if he doesn't know the details, the how or (exactly) why. Harry had been skittish about the topic, glancing past it, only slipping up to refer to his professor in the past tense.

He thinks that it's good she got to go home after the debacle with William's dreaming power, and what she went through. Instead of saying so-- ]

[There is plenty she wants to say, but comforting him isn't easy work. It's actually more of a challenge. He is too crafty and proud and she knows if he discovers her intentions, she can only expect to be verbally condemned.]
