So what are the odds for a relatively peaceful trip out to a kitchen? Mum and dad were physicists, but I never really picked up the knack for numbers.

[Fortescue has been holed up carefully for most of this chaos. She doesn't really want to have to fight someone, mostly because her magic isn't good for subduing. Not for any length of time, at least. It's best for permanently ending a conflict, and she'd rather not do that. Ever again — but she knows that things in her life don't really work out in her favor, generally.

She's stayed in her room as long as she can. Her hunger's gnawing a hole right through her, now.]

Anyone know what the status is?

Status is still 'crazy,' I'd say.
Kitchen might not be completely safe, but if you're looking for friendly company, I'm almost as good a bodyguard as I am a cook.

It's not the danger I'm worried about so much as having to hurt anybody here. I wouldn't mind the company, though.
You didn't get affected, did you? A girl worries about those long silences.

Definitely didn't feel like weeks, but my sense of time ain't the greatest these days.

Peaceful trip to the kitchen is probably not a thing that can happen right now. Status is still 'everyone's gone insane. again'.

You're telling me. I can deal with random voices, not so much the random acts of violence.

I'm good, just kinda sticking to my space until it passes. Unless it's one of those things that doesn't pass.

I've been taking to my room, as well. Only coming out when I have to.
I'd rather not hurt anyone unless I absolutely have to defend myself.

[Fortescue chuckles softly, but she does so before she opens up her end of the channel.]

[If she's looking after someone else, maybe that will make the whole thing easier on her conscience.]

[ Probably. The ship is still particularly confusing for a girl who'd spent her whole life in only a few rooms. ]

Normally I'd agree, but with the way things are -- perhaps we should meet somewhere in the middle, and go from there?

Is there any sort of estimation for how many were affected?

[Or is it just a lot — that's the inkling Fortescue's gotten.]

Based on an estimation:

~130-140 residents on board, roughly, and based on rough measures of how many have been effected by events, excepting illnesses where the effect rate approached 100%, probably 60 or so. Maybe a little less.

Good grief. The odds certainly don't seem to be in my favor.

Any chance this will die down soon, like the paintings did, you think?

Safe isn't too much of an issue. I can take care of myself. But I'd rather not have to, if I can help it.

Right now, the way things are looking, you're not going to be able to help it. Unless you're lucky enough to hit on some sort of abandoned route to the kitchen.
