BATCH ACCESS TO NETWORK POSTS PREDATING JUMP 37
Posts using special encryptions are incompatible with the current network and must be downloaded from a hardline terminal to be seen in their original state, after which you will still have to decrypt them. An archive terminal will be located in the old Communications department on the first level of Passenger Quarters, and a member of Comms will be available on request to assist you with your downloads.
Organization of batches is by jump number. Please recall that there was almost no network activity after the thirteenth jump and none at all after the nineteenth jump.
We’ll work on making special archive batches related to informational guides created by your fellow passengers, but this should be enough to start with.

[OOC: THERE YOU GO!
Assume that all backthreads set prior to November 1st, 2014 are part of the associated archive, even if their comments are still being posted now! Also assume that posts from the first week of a month are in the previous archive: organizing the batches by jump number made the most IC sense, but since that doesn’t correspond perfectly to a real-world month, some slight fudging is necessary. (This also means that due to the move from LJ to DW, the first archive actually covers until January 15, 2012.)
Threads with special encryptions, usually designated with something like "[word]locked" or "--% unhackable," are not compatible with the new system and are not included in these archives: those posts must be downloaded from the hardline terminal directly to a communicator to be readable, even if they were originally sent to your character, unless you believe your character saved a copy of whichever one you’re interested in on their own communicator at the time. Once they're on the communicator, they have to be decrypted there just like they were before. Woe betide those of us whose characters have done most of their stuff under special encryption. This doesn’t affect the entire (DW) post that such a comment or thread was on, just the individual encrypted reply comments, which may include the top post comment.
Your character’s inbox is safe: because inbox messages (unlike regular network posts) operate somewhat like text messages, and a copy is stored on the communicator itself, nothing was lost in the crash unless your character would have already deleted it. However, inboxes that belong to dropped characters are pretty much gone.
Also please note that a single communicator cannot hold the entire archive -- but it can hold at least a few of these batch files at a time while your character reads through them and deletes what they find irrelevant, if they feel like doing it.
It is safe to assume that even if it's not reflected in this particular post, all materials related to Smiley/plot are saved wherever it was technically possible to do so: this would have been Comms’s priority. That doesn't mean various characters' private discussions of him, but it does mean things like anything posted to the game tumblrs that was IC-ly uncovered. I'd be happy to say that Comms can post an archive similar to this that corresponds to the posts listed over on the Timeline, but because that's slightly out of date, I didn't go in that direction this time. It's still a good guide to which posts your characters will find useful in the batch archives.
I've made a correction to this since it was posted to reflect that there was a single mysterious post to the network when it was down after the 13th jump.
Comments on this post probably won't get IC replies, but I'd love it if you could let me know if you find any HTML/URL errors so I can fix them.]
