Hi. This is Claire Bennet. You might know me. You might not. Nathan Petrelli is my father and, obviously, that means Peter is my uncle.

At this point, I'm sure that everyone is aware, but if you aren't: they have both gone as of the last jump. I'm not really equipped to deal with the holes that they left in their respective departments, so I won't waste everyone's time trying to offer a helping hand in that capacity or anything. I hope the positions get filled soon, even if they are big shoes to fill.

My main thing here is that... well, Nathan and Peter left me with three dogs. I thought about giving the two puppies up for adoption and, you know, running a background check to make sure potential applicants had never murdered a hamster or anything like that. But the more I think about it, the less right it seems to give away something that isn't mine to give. That being said, I need some help in about two departments here. Okay:

1. Can anyone go over the process for getting animals into the grav couches before the jump? Is there a special procedure I should be aware of? Do I just... plop them in there or what?

2. Is there any kind of, like... doggy daycare out there? Should there be? Should we just organize a ship-wide animal meet-and-greet of some kind? Along those lines, let's talk puppy play dates. Not even necessarily with other puppies. I know the dogs spent some amount of time with the comms department, too, so if anyone ever wanted to walk any of them... that would be great.

I'd really like to do this right, since they belonged to my family, and they obviously both cared about them.

Thanks.

EDIT: does anyone know how to use a sword? Specifically, a samurai sword.

[He sounds weary. He'd watched Tug and the other one being born. It had been disgusting and rather smelly and not anywhere near as bad as a number of other things he's seen, and he'd been tasked with making sure the dogs got to Claire to begin with.

It really wasn't a good idea to develop any fondness for anything here, was it?]

If you bring them to Comms, the only thing I ask is that you don't bring them all at once.

Aside from that, we'll have to exercise care in the new area.

It's two levels with an open access area in the floor of the center of the upper one. Most likely, they won't fall, but it's a possibility.

I'm not completely sure that we'll be using the new space, however... its functionality is in question. If we do, it's possible that we could modify it to make falls less likely.

[With at least one employee who's almost consistently drunk, this is probably a good idea, puppies or not.]

Ah! I was wondering what happened to the other dogs since they left— [there are a few barks in the background before a golden labrador and another slightly around the age of the other two she probably has, who can seen briefly on the feed. chuck laughs a bit sheepishly] Sorry, I guess these two were getting a bit worried.

As for your question I can help with the first one and I think the idea of a doggy daycare or a meet and greet is a great idea.

[ Guess who's not a pet person? Yeah, probably zero surprise. Severus is relatively used to Izzie, having encountered her enough times alongside Nathan, but the puppies are another story. Unleashed and slightly anxious over missing their owner, they're even more energetic than usual. And of course, it's like they have a radar for who wants slobber and dog hair the least and he's one giant beeping target on it. ]

Are you sure this is normal behavior? [ asked while feebly trying to get Unnamed Puppy to stop squirming excitedly at him, prodding gently, shoooo go away. ]

You most certainly are not. [ Severus is fully aware she finds this hysterical, and is sliiightly put out at having to break away from serious spacehell living to deal with fuzzy animals, but isn't actually bothered. He'd said he would, anyway.

Finally he gets the exceptionally wiggly one to sit, using the only-mostly-fool-proof 'step forward slightly against dog and raise hand to hold attention' move. But the other one sits down directly on his feet, so he gives up. They'll calm down in a bit, anyway. ]

Do you have the rest of it sorted?

Claire, hello. I don't know if your father ever mentioned me, but I'm Laura Roslin. We were together, until recent happenings. I should have spoken to you earlier, and for that, I humbly apologize.

I don't know anyway to care for his dogs, but, I would be happy to help you care for them. It's been a long time since I've had much interaction with any animals in any regular fashion, and I certainly took a shine to your father's dogs.

Thank you.

[ Severus does manage to sit down on the bunk opposite Claire finally - Merlin, this room is too little for two people and this many dogs - and convinces foot-puppy to stay seated, so long as he's getting headpats (that Severus looks vaguely resentful of). ]

I can put the paintings somewhere in Xenogen if you like. [ Not.. in a containment unit like the mask, but: ] Relevant as something being brought in from the outside to annoy a person aboard.

[ She's on her own with the jacket. He thinks about saying Save it in case Nathan shows back up, but it seems too flippant, this soon. Instead he checks his comms device with the hand that's not attached to a dog. ] He never mentioned a girlfriend to me either.

Yeah, a little too much excitement, but yeah Digby over here is the other half of where the puppies came from. [chuck nods and waits for claire to come back before speaking up again] It's okay, I definitely know what you mean.

I used to have help with this but between these two and Pigby, they're all more than a handful to deal with.

[ The dogs are not that bad, really, Severus is just being really uppity for no reason other than he's himself. His thoughts skim briefly in a direction about Black also being a dog, and how it's fitting because they're honestly pretty stupid and pointless, wriggling around and slobbering. But he discards it, never actually in the mood to think of the Marauders. ]

Well he-- [ an abrupt stop. Severus isn't sure how to phrase that. Rather he is, but he suddenly doesn't want to, and instead takes a moment to be intensely distracted by checking his messages (which he has none of, right now). In a more dismissive tone, ] We just spoke often.

You made a very good choice, then.

It'd be nice to fill any down time with something not work or solitary things, so I certainly don't mind lending a hand.
