I've been here long enough to know that weird is normal, so I'll say this:

My name is Zoe, and I'm a witch.

Where I come from, we have this united we stand thing. A bunch of witches who live and work together. We call them covens. Yeah, it sounds totally corny, I know, but it's important to us. We're kind of endangered in my world.

So... I thought, wouldn't it be cool to have a coven on the Tranquility? Even if we come from different worlds, magic is magic, right? It'd be nice to know somebody's got your back. We could learn from each other. Maybe even try to figure a way out of this place.

So what do you guys say? Anyone interested? Feel free to filter your reply, if you want to be discreet.

This isn't gonna end up like that one movie from the 90s, is it? [ The Craft is escaping his brain at the moment. ]

I mean, not saying that all magic is bad but I've seen that kinda power go to people's heads more than I care to count.

Wow, way to stereotype. We're not a club of Carries or anything. [ Rolling her eyes here. ] Besides, we still have magic, coven or not.

So I get more heads are better than one, but are things that bad for magic users still?

About two weeks back, a hunter went and massacred a whole building full of us. [ A beat. ] So yeah, we need to stick together.

[ Well. That just got Peter's face to fall into a really dark look. ]

That's not happening here. [ Magic or not, massacres are no bueno in Pete's book, for many, personal reasons. ]

I figured. We're all weirdos here. [ She cracks grin at that. ] It's more of a social thing. Learning about magic from different worlds. Maybe finding a way out of here.

[ He huffs a breath, trying to relax a little. ]

Yeah, that last bit especially- let me know if you need any help. Heck, a cosmic cube or some infinity gems would be great right now.

Cosmic cubes? Infinity gems?

[ Why, do explain... ]

[ Oh good, he gets to explain some magic from his world. ]

First one's this doohickey- cube, kinda bluish-white and glowing when it's functional, and like cracked glass when it's going kaput. [ He gestures with his hand to suggest that it's portable. ]

In the right- or wrong hands, it lets you manipulate reality. Time. Space. Laws of physics. Had a busted one a little while back- couldn't do much in the way of altering reality, but it packed a wallop. As for the Infinity Gems- those are more complicated, but they're more powerful, too. You could make an entire universe simply... not-exist with the power those things have. [ Ahem. ]

So I think they could manage getting us all home.

An entire universe? So it's kind of like magic on crack. Or suddenly becoming like god or something.

"Magic on crack's" a nice way to put it. They've got their limits, though.

But seeing as I don't think we've got a way of getting our hands on those, we're gonna have to think about getting home via other methods.

Who knows, we might not even need a magic cube. Maybe there's a spell that could work, if we got enough witches-- and wizards together.

I mean, how did they bring us here in the first place?

I dunno, but it's weird that we all wake up in those pods, don't you think? It's always a jump when new people show up.

[The fact that appears is every stereotype you could imagine... except the warts. She has no warts.]

Never really hold with covens. Somethin' to be said for gettin' witches together fer tea though.

[ She's going to stare at you a bit, but considering that Witches come in all shapes and sizes back home, she's not too surprised.

Anyways, black hats and black dress are all the rage. ]

A social group then? A club? Apparently coven's a scary word.

Never seen a terrible need for a word for a group of witches gettin' together for witchin'.

[Coven works, she supposes, but it implies a certan degree of organization.]

It's like a club. Or a sorority. Just a name. [ a beat. ] Sounds a lot cooler than gettin' together for a witchin'.

[ Such a teenage brat, this Zoe. ]

Better just to get to the witchin'. Busy folk, witches.

Can't say that we've been too busy here. I mean, shit goes down, pretty terrible shit.. but there's a lot of time between that too.

Medical manages to be busy enough.

So you're saying that we should help out medical? Magical community service?

Witches look after their folk. Right now, these ones are ours.

...is this one of the things where you end up deciding that you need to kill the humans?

[he holds up his hand, and it becomes a nice little plasma surrounded hand, bubbling and churning around his fingers.]

That's some real sci-fi shit right there. [ Magic doesn't usually make colors. ] I'd ask if you were a superhero, but superheroes aren't supposed to be jerks.

I mean, besides Tony Stark.

I don't like being called a hero. [It hasn't ever sat well with him.]

I'm part of the X-Men. Or I was, at least.

i'm not scared. i can fight, and i'm prepared to do anything to defend myself.

but there's tons of people with powers here, y'know? if people want to harm us, they're going to have a lot of ground to cover.

Yes, I know. But one zealot might be enough to spark others to condemn those who know magic, or possess other abilities. I will admit to fearing the zealots.

nah. i think no one's gonna be stupid enough to start a war on ship, when we've all got the same enemy to worry about.

[ hundreds of years ago, they would've burned for what they are. even nowadays they still do-- though it's the witches that do the burning nowadays. ]

well, to name a few. there's telekenesis. moving stuff without touching it. fire starting. transmutation. divination.

Such feats must be incredible to perform. I.. do not rightly know the true extent of that which I am capable.

I can hex or curse another to ill-fortune and ruin, and influence the weather. I also experience the Sight. A sort of involuntary divination. If there be more, and I am certain there is, then I am unaware.

Strength in numbers. I didn't know it worked like that with witches.

when you're practically an endangered species? yeah, it helps. a lot of spells take a group.

Well, we don't have male witches in my world-- wizards, I mean-- but if we did, they'd totally be invited?
