[the voice post opens abruptly with an interjection from a voice that some people might recognize as one of the newest comms specialists on the ship, so that this might almost appear to be some kind of accidental recording, before a second voice, far less familiar (except to maybe, like, two or three people-- i'm looking at you bran) answers in something akin to a snarl.]

[which is pretty much the most juvenile thing damian could have said, but give him a break okay, the increased sensory thing was already playing havoc on his hyper-vigilance and then his stitches decided to start itching like mad.

I am perfectly aware they need to come out, which is precisely why i turned this [probably a gesture at the communicator, but since this is voice, nobody gets to see it] on. So would you shut up for two minutes so I can find someone to take care of this, or would you prefer to cut them out yourself?

[audible face palming can be heard over the connection before the first voice cuts in with a little more purposeful direction this time.]

Guys, and ladies, we really need somebody with good medical knowledge for follow-up of extensive surgery. Familiarity with Tranquility's medical resources is a plus. Any takers?

[and then once more from the sullen child in the corner:] Somebody who understands the meaning of discretion.

Sure. But I'd still prefer not seeing that get infected or anything. So medical skills still higher priority.

Engineering and biogenetics are two entirely different fields, I am hardly going to assume he's unfamiliar with one simply because he had little exposure to the other.

How long is a very long time? And learning's a good thing, too.

We've been to medbay. But it's sort of important that he can trust the person who'll have something sharp and will be standing behind his back, you know? And the fact that none of them has bothered to answer is... worrying even me, a little.

[ And he's got way fewer reasons to be suspicious than Damian. ]

They are busy.

[But he frowns even as he makes that excuse. It is no wonder, that they are worried.]

Perhaps they did not see your question. People do not always check the devices as they should. If you go to the medbay, there will be help there, and I think they believe that you will go, if you seek help.

And I came aboard this ship at the fourth jump.

[ The shades do nothing to disguise the wince, after a moment to figure out timing, more or less, with what he's put together this far. His own jump is the thirty-first... ]

Over two years really is a very long time, yeah.

[ His arm - of the hand not holding the device - crosses in front of his chest, fingers wrapping around his own shoulder, and his eyes flick towards where Damian is. ]

[A wince is better than pity, and Bran only nods at it. And someone else might question a nickname like Nightwing--but in a world of Young Wolves and Smiling Knights and Mountains that Ride, Bran takes it well into stride. Someone might well have several names, and Nightwing isn't the strangest they might have.]
