Fellow passengers of the Tranquility,
The loss of many of our friends in the previous Jump, while already a tragedy, leaves us in a situation of grave peril. Volunteer crew across the board is at an all time low. No one department is flourishing; even Security is working on a skeleton crew, spread further every jump, as new passengers are consigned to higher floors. Medical is overstretched; two doctors and two nurses trading shifts. The flight crew is crippled; there are less pilots on board now than are needed to crew the shuttles should we need to abandon ship. And agriculture, which provides our fresh food and therefore guarantees our survival, is struggling to secure the help of full time volunteers.
I must urge each and every one of you, old passengers and new, regardless of how you feel about your confinement here, or how little you think you might have to offer in way of skills, to give serious thought to joining a department. Skills can be taught, but nothing short of action now will prevent disaster. Our very survival depends on you.
Each of the ship's departments will introduce themselves and link to relevant materials below. Please wait until they speak, or contact them privately to address your questions to them. If you'd like to offer your assistance but don't know where to start, we will help you get settled in the right place. When you're ready, enter your signup information here to be granted relevant clearance. Your tattoo will change to reflect your new position.

Communications Department
Head of Communications: Nathan Petrelli
Video;
Communications officers keep the network running smoothly. Every time someone picks up a comms device, there are any number of things that can go wrong. We monitor calls and record and tag messages, allowing swift recollection of old data, which we keep a copy of in order to maintain our legacy should the worst happen. Outside of the department proper, we maintain a web of routers that allow us to keep a real time record of where people are in the inhabited areas of the ship, information we supply to security and medical. In an emergency situation, survival can rely on how efficiently we respond.
Computer skills are useful but not necessary. I didn't have any myself when I joined up here. A desire to listen to other people ramble about their cats is also unnecessary, but it can't hurt. That said, working in Comms is usually a pleasant experience. We have a close camaraderie between us, our own coffee machine, and every one gets time enough to pursue their own projects in their own space.
Presently, including myself, there are only three active members of communications.

Flight Crew
Head of Flight Crew: Carolyn Fry

No experience is necessary if you want to join the flight crew. We need people who are willing to learn, both how to pilot and how to repair and maintain what shuttles we have. They're damaged after every jump. We don't have enough fuel to go joy-riding; if you want to do that, you're wasting your time. We're the people who are going to make sure that, if it comes down to it, we get off this ship safely as quickly and efficiently as possible.
[ Pause. ]
And we've got the best view. Windows; you can see the stars.

No wonder the work's been so rough lately.
[You mean other than the fact that he's been chronically sick the last month, and has been attempting to consolidate the food supply on almost thirty decks now?]
