Societies have always thrived on developing order in the face of chaos.

I see there's an engineering department, security, communications. This place has survived attacks both from internal and external sources, both human and inhuman.

So what do you think, if anything, is keeping everything in order? Or is it just in our nature to embrace it?

It's early 21st century, and most of it is in PDFs and text files, if that helps.

I can give it a go. Trained electrical and mechanical engineer here, also from the early 21st century, and I've been fiddling with the technology here a lot.

I think it's a good way to get us all working together. I mean, we're all stuck here. We should be helping each other out.

I agree. We're certainly better off helping one another. With so many people it just feels more like best case scenario. Which is rare.

I do believe it's in our nature to help each other survive, yes. We're all doing it for a reason, and - well. Cooperation seems to have helped well enough so far.

Cooperation can only get us so far until a conflict. But I agree, this is very much about survival.

part of it might be human nature, part of it might be that it's simply in our best interest. maybe that is human nature more than anything.

[ she'd like to think that it's human nature to want order and peace, but she's seen too many counter-examples, too much cruelty and apathy and self-interest, to really believe it.

As some have pointed out, we aren't all of us human. But unity is a powerful thing as long as it's intact.

I think we crave what's familiar, and where we can't find it, we build it. It's not about wanting order, it's about home.

And all of our homes are very different, from what I've found.
