Now that I've had the opportunity to see what this ship has to offer, I thought I might introduce myself properly to those of you I did not see in the lockerroom.

[ adam lifts an eyebrow, he's done much more reading than exploring, but it's time to show his face. it's time to get ahead of the people from his world. he's considering doing a really terrifying thing: being honest. ]

My name is Adam Monroe and while it is a pleasure to meet you all, I'm sure we can all agree that there could certainly have been better circumstances. Still, I suppose it could always be worse.

[ he tilts his head, wondering how convincing that sounded. ] I do have a few inquiries that are sure to label me as a new arrival, but here, as they say, goes nothing:

Is there any certain rule or order of law in this place? I understand there are departments that carry out individual tasks, but is there no legislative branch of any kind? I only ask because with so many different people on board, there must have been conflict on this subject before. [ and he wants to avoid ruffling any feathers. ]

I also wonder if anyone has puzzled out the meaning behind these blasted numbers. [ he can't help glancing at his tattoo, frowning slightly in the process. ]

Lastly, is there some manner of - weapons cache? Or an itemized list, perhaps, of all the items that have become public property. [ no reason for this, none at all!! ]

Before I get too far off-base or I begin to bore you all with the intonation of my voice: I would very much like to offer any help I can to the ship at large. I am not overly technical, but I can get by, and I have seen more than a few posts asking after those with a veteran background.

[ he feigns insecurity, wavering between shutting the feed off and keeping it open-- ] Thank you, fellow passengers, for your time.

[ this is equal parts horrible and fascinating. like sydney's mask which she still has stuffed away in her locker, seeing his face again is like being backhanded but far worse. a cruel joke that's being played on her and yet isn't directed towards her at all. because it's obvious in an instant that this isn't sark, and it's equally as obvious that he won't remember or recognize her and there's no reason to think differently. she's no one to him and he's allowed to be no one to her.

You're right in that I would not be shocked. Though I still have a less than complete view on how it is that this place operates.

Lauren Reed. [ oh lord who is this man, that is a face that she's pretty sure she never saw sark mark unless she was naked and f--

Likewise, Ms. Reed. [ one eyebrow lifts slightly, though the smile remains in place. ]

I take it you do not belong to any of these so-called departments yourself.

[ this would be hysterical if it wasn't so sad, but she can't help but smile out of sheer amusement. it's so unlike the features of a face she's so used to and there's something endearing.... or perhaps slap-worthy about it.

as of yet, she hasn't decided. but for the time being, she's all too willing to soak it in in another man's absence. ]

I don't, no. But boredom is starting to become the better of me.

Boredom is a powerful motivator. If you were me, which one would you choose?

I'm proficient at fighting, and have a vast knowledge of different types of weapons. I'm not a technological expert though -- [ he ramps up her encryption here just a bit. just enough to show he can. ] I can get by on that as well.

I was in the military, but long before flying machines [ ha! ] And anything else, I am quite willing to learn.

Is that enough information to get a good read? [ it's all teasing, tongue-in-cheek even. but this is his resume so have it or something. ]

I'd recommend security, but you might find it inherently lacking entertainment value.

[ just like everything around here, but what was that little speech even. that was good enough for a number of things, including a read, but even so. ] Flying machines?

I am not so easily bored, but I'll take that under advisement.
