[ It's Meriadoc again, a smile on his face as he surrounded but what appear to be woodshavings. ]

Greetings, everyone.

I am Meriadoc Brandybuck, and as near as I can determine from the way time passes aboard this ship, my birthday is a little less than a week. As with hobbit tradition, I have made preparations for a party, and as I can only assume this ship does not exceed a twelve mile radius from its center, everyone is very welcome to attend!

There will be gifts and delicious food and general merrymaking, since it seems we could use with something a little more fun after all of the stress of what has been happening before.

It will be in a section of the Gardens, so if at any point you would like to wander in and participate you are most certainly welcome! ]

Thank you all for offering to help, I was hoping we could get started baking perhaps a day or so before the party, so everything could be ready by then. Again, thank you all very much!

Merry! Oh, Merry! [ He tries to push back how tired he is. No reason to make his cousin worry over something he really couldn't help. ]

I would love to come, whether I have an invitation or no.

[ Too late. Merry is always worried for Frodo. ]

Frodo! Of course, cousin, I shall have have the proper gifts as well. Even if there aren't as many mathoms lying about as I would have liked, now having to make enough gifts myself.

[ A pause, quiet, and Merry's face may grow a tad bit more drawn. ]

Are you doing well, cousin?

[ Oh, Merry. Frodo smiles! ] Gifts made by your own hand make them all the more special. I'm very sure that many others could agree! [ That's what he hopes, anyway.

Frodo pauses, and tries to give Merry the best smile he could manage. ] I'm as fine as I can be, Merry. All was fine before I left. [ Kinda. Sorta. Depends on how you look at it. ]

And what about you?

[ ur a liar ]

I am doing well, I have made a few friends, and others we know, such as Legolas, are also aboard.

[ Now is not the time or place to have a heartfelt and discrete discussion with Frodo, however. That will have to wait. ]

Would that I were able, Meriadoc. [a bit hesitantly, but none too stiffly at all.] I would come by to grant my well-wishes from the door, if that would be permissible.

So I've heard! There are many I have met here that are from home. Even some of the dwarves in Thorin's Company! It is amazing how we all meet here in a dark place like this.

[ This really doesn't need explaining, even though Merry still thinks there is a distinct difference between Melkor's action and Mairon's. It is likely for the best. Especially with Frodo back... ]

Perhaps something privately, before or after? I would still save you good food, and... I have my gift to give you, still.

[ There is a brief moment of hesitation, on realizing that Sauron is a dear enough friend that Merry had care to make something special for him. He really has no idea how he could ever explain. ]

I do not think... [How to say this? ] those individuals... would concern themselves with so trivial a thing.

But I will make sure the party is safe, for all who participate.

[ Melkor and Mairon won't be there. Mairon will help him with that, if Merry and the fear of the retribution of those who count Thranduil as lord, ally, or friend are not enough. ]

Yes! Kili is... [ Kili is like, Merry's best friend okay don't get let him started ] and Fili and Ori.

There is much good company here. And... [ ....lets not explain sauron right now ] some that is quite unexpected, as well.

But my experiences have been largely good.

[ Other than that book from Moria and one of those memory-links with Mairon. ]

Or, well, as good as they could have been.

[ Frodo...kinda-sorta knows about Sauron. Word went around about Thranduil being sick, or being kidnapped...and it was his fault. It was something that Frodo dearly hoped that was a false rumor, a hallucination maybe. But he had the feeling...

It's good to hear that Merry is doing well. But still, it's something that he's gotta know if he wants to be able to sleep at night (if that's even possible.) ]

And...is he here, Merry? If he is, I can't...

There are worse evils than Sauron aboard, Frodo. From Ages before anyone gave care for hobbits, who hold their own grudges against the elves for various reasons. [ Thranduil had nothing to do with you, Frodo, breathe. Its meant a bit as a delaying tactic, but Merry's face is clearly unsure, and this is not something he would hide from Frodo if it could prevent future pain.

He takes a deep breath. ]

But yes, he is.

[ Okay, so maybe he's being a bit paranoid. But Frodo doesn't like how he just almost dismisses it. What could be worse than Sauron...? His own enemy was on board of this ship. He would find him. He would- ]

[ Frodo almost has trouble talking after that. ] What could be worse?

[Yeah, she's using a video this time because she's tired of hiding. People that don't like her already know she's here anyway.]

[What a surprise this is, Ori actually using his device! But, well, Merry is his friend, and it's just easier to reply with this than try to find his way right now.]

Oh, how exciting! I-I would like to help, if I can. I'm sure there will be much to do.

[it is, maybe, slightly fortunate that merry does know about.. some of mairon's involvement. involvement by not getting involved.]

I would like not impose myself upon you on such a celebrated day, but.. after, perhaps. If you would still be inclined then. At a later date, even. [whenever, basically. birthdays are weird.]
