[Honestly? He'd kind of put this whole bad idea out of his mind, but given recent developments-- Aidan's not going to go flashing his face all over the comm over it, but it's worth saying.]

I realize this is going to sound pretty stupid to anyone over the age of twelve, but I've seen a couple of people joking about a buddy system before. And I'm not saying it's anything we have to do but it... might not be the worst idea in the world? Maybe at least get to know your neighbor - that kind of thing. That way if anyone starts to go off the deep end, at least one other person might notice it before another person goes the full hallucinatory, seeing signs and portents and monsters level of crazy.

[The briefest beat:]

Or go running off into parts of the ship that no one should be able to get to and threatening to wreak havoc. That kind of thing.

No, we are worried about what's already on the ship, but— [ BUT. ] I'm not saying we should force anyone, I'm just saying that it might be in their best interest to be honest with someone, eventually.

[ a slight pause, then: ] Security knows about me. Which is a good thing, because then if the neighborhood watch decides to report me as space crazy due to my weird new hoodie fetish, they'll know better than to take the complaint seriously.

[Which is fair-- enough that it gives him pause, however much the concept gets his proverbial hackles up. This is all starting to sound more strict than he really intended, his own suggestion beginning to rankle. Security probably knows about him too; there's a list of names down in medical for who's getting blood from the bank.]

Does Security know about all the werewolves on the ship? About Nora? Derek's pack?

[growling]

It's... complicated. I don't know how much they know in an official capacity. [ speaking of outing people. this is difficult to navigate without mentioning the fact that the head of SEC happens to have a psychic link with canines. may as well be a werewolf radar. ]

But yes, I think they know about Derek's pack, though I couldn't tell you if that was his choice. Honestly, I don't know if it is possible to stay completely incognito here, not with so many supernatural streams crossing.

[Aidan crosses his arms, largely unconsciously, across his chest - angle of his shoulders low, drawn in.]

No, it's probably not. But if someone is managing to do it, I don't think anyone should just force them to give that up.

[Is there an edge of jealousy there? Oh, totally.]

[growling]

[ reading that edge, not entirely sure what to make of it, thus squinting slightly into the camera. ]

Is this about the vampire registration act.

[ or the blood bank lists, whatever. ]

[Aidan shoots a glance straight into the camera - a momentary downward pull of his mouth and the line of his brow - and then his face clears (purposefully).]

Tch. No. --I get it. They're giving us blood, they need my name. I'd keep track of me too.

You know you guys are old hat around here, right? I'm pretty they'd find a sudden influx of illegal dog breeds more threatening. [ which— ] As in actual dogs. Like pit bulls.

[ no werewolf jokes allowed. ]

[growling]

But this is safer for everyone. If we can't hide, we can't get away with the same crap we got away with back home.

[ there could probably be more sufficient guilt in this statement than there actually is. ]

[There's something briefly wounded in his expression - a flicker in the shape of his mouth and the look of his eyes. Aidan blinks, twice and rapidly.]

If we can't hide, we can't protect ourselves. There's a reason we're not out at home. People-- humans [to put a sharp point on it] don't like predators higher up on the food chain than them.

[growling]

I get that, I do, but— I think you're overestimating the number of humans on this ship. [ or regular humans, anyway. nathan petrelli can fly, txt it. ]

And this isn't like Boston. We can't hole ourselves up in a house and isolate ourselves from the outside world when we need a break.

[ in their rooms, maybe, but the point that they're trapped in a tin can still stands. ]

That doesn't make it better. Smaller numbers makes everyone more desperate, not less.
