[Godric sits on an open, grassy area in the gardens, contemplating a... thing he holds in his hands. It isn't very large, perhaps the size of his hand, and looks very much like a small horse with a single horn on its head. Sadly, it isn't alive, but permineralized into a fossil.]

I received this in my locker during the previous jump--

[Before Godric can continue, he glances up at something just off-camera, a restless shadow falling over him. There's a sound like a chirrup just before a large, straight beak noses into the picture, snatching the fossil cleanly out of Godric's hands.

The communicator falls over, disturbed from its resting place by a clawed foot, allowing for a bug's-eye view of Myfanwy the pteranodon awkwardly gnawing at the remains. It only lasts a moment before she makes a sound of clear disgust, dropping the little creature with an indignant shake of her head. Shooting a look at Godric, she takes off again with a great flap of her wings.

Retrieving the communicator, Godric looks dryly amused.]

It seems that wasn't at all what she expected from a unicorn either.

She looks as though she might expect food, perhaps. What did you want from it?

Moreover, why are you keeping the company of a dragon?

[ Not that it's any of her business, but that does seem a dangerous thing to do, Godric. ]

She is a pteranodon. A flying reptile, yes, but nothing so dangerous as a dragon. I don't keep her company normally, but she is free to fly about the gardens as she pleases.

[He picks up the fossil again, turning it over in his hands.]

This looks like a creature of myth. But I had always envisioned them as being much the same size as a normal horse.

[ She looks skeptical about that definition. It's useful to know that such creatures are flying around here, though. She'll keep her arrows close. ]

A horned horse. I do not know these myths.

If it does not belong to you, why was it in your locker? Perhaps it has some worth that cannot be seen.

Sometimes, the ship will gift us with things from home, but other times we'll receive strange, unfamiliar things. I'm not the first, but I had wondered if anyone else had received something quite so peculiar. Whether it has any worth, I can't say.

Your world has dragons, but no unicorns?

That is so, though the great worms are now not many in number. One there is, whose fate…interests me.

We have horses. [ That’s the closest thing to his figurine. ] None which bear a horn. Is that strange?

Perhaps not. Our world has none that I have ever seen, either. Only legends. Perhaps they existed once, or they may only be a children's tale.

But this dragon, how does his fate interest you?

[woodlander]

Because I believe that his ire may soon be upon me - or that it would have been, had I stayed where I was.

[ But now she's here. Whether that means she's safe, or that events in Laketown have only been delayed for her, is not yet clear. ]

He would, I think, lack the friendliness of your flying reptile. Dragons are creatures of fire, and death. His coming made me anxious, to say the least.

Yes, I can see how that would be alarming. Are all dragons in your world so temperamental, or did it have reason to be aggrieved?

They are known for their cunning as much as their violence. They are dark creatures.

[ So yes, it was in his nature. But... ]

But in this case, his rest had been disturbed. None of them are creatures I would hasten to be near.

I'm afraid not. She's very real. Her name, as I understand it, is Myfanwy. It's Welsh.

There's a Welsh dinosaur on the ship?

Her owner is Welsh. I'm not sure if we can attribute his nationality to her, save that he named her after a Welsh goddess.

I mean, right now I'm gonna have to go with attempted snack time even though ew, gross, just because oh no, dead tiny unicorn... but still.

I'm not altogether sure I can count either as a friend, sadly. The "winged lizard" seems particularly put out with me now.

A pity, considering all the lore behind both creatures. Though neither are quite what I'd expect from such fairytales, so perhaps even those magicks hold no bearing on reality.

No, I think that fairytales are often made more of dreams, despite sometimes being inspired by reality. I can't say much of the unicorn, but I'm certain the lizard holds no magic at all.
