[For once, Enjolras is completely bundled up in the majority of his clothing from home, and huddled in a blanket to boot. He looks somewhat resigned -- cold isn't too much of a problem, but he has grown far too used to being on the ship and in a somewhat moderate temperature, barring the last few weeks.]

I do not much mind a respite from the heat, but this seems somewhat excessive. I do not think I have been this cold since I was in Paris. Does anyone know of a place where the climate might be somewhat more, ah, temperate? I welcome any and all suggestions.

Mine is much improved from how it was last month, but still a little warmer than I recall if you'd like to come over and warm up. There IS a bed for you.

I think the gardens are still warm.

Company would certainly be welcome. I suppose it is a mercy Joly is not here, he would certainly be worried of catching cold.

[Her lips press together as she thinks if she should say her next comment or not. On one hand it exonerates engineering and Arya from the blame; on the other it admits to something she's not entirely comfortable with admitting.

After a minute or so she decides to say it.]

I'm afraid this is probably being caused by someone with more control over the ship then us.

[His lips press together at that, as well. He may not know much (or care much) for electronics and the like, but such news is worrisome.]

Is it something that should be discussed in, ah, open communication? Or do you think it may be what remains of the crew?

[She looks down at what she was doing, her expression tightening.]

I'm not sure.

[On any of it. She's only dug into the tip of what she can find.]

What have you learned? I must confess, I know very little of the heating and mechanics of this ship and the like, but my dear friend works in engineering.

As far as they can tell there's nothing wrong. The temperature fluctuation isn't from any malfunction they can find. On top of that we can't even get into engineering. Which means there's a probability that somewhere there's a master control.

If none of us know where it is, then who's behind it.

[The last part isn't a question, it's a statement. After having dealt with Aldrich and the like Pepper has become a bit more suspicious of things like this.]

That is a very good question. Asking for answers will likely get us nowhere, it tends to in this place.

I suppose we might search, if you wish to accompany me.

Engineering.

The garden is very warm, if you'd like to visit there. There's even a stream to deep your feet into if you get at all uncomfortable.

It is less the temperature more than it is the fluctuation. I wouldn't have chased after that spectre through the halls if I had known that returning to my quarters would result in a surprise steam bath.

You are correct, but it is rarely a good idea to go into the halls alone, here. I will meet you somewhere, if you should like; it is better than lying idle.

I have heard it is inaccessible, but I've a friend who works there. Perhaps it will not be for him.

[Enjolras gives him a bit of a bemused blink, but doesn't otherwise comment. At least there aren't any naked ladies about.]

That is it, yes, it was quite fine in the hallways. When I returned to my rooms it was very nearly close to Paris in the middle of December.

You might try the gardens, Enjolras.

They are still a bit unbearable in their heat, but it may be better for your health than the excessive chill.

[Not all of us are so lucky as to have the proper clothing for the weather, okay. And a pity, that latter bit, really, though even the thought of that is far too much.]

And mine the dead of July, though at least there, we would get the occasional breath of air after the rain has fallen.

[In his room, sweating. Profusely. And from what you can see of him, he's mostly naked. Not a sprig of green behind him, though, you might notice.]

Sweet Selene is always fair, and fairly stays far from brother Helios. I am hot, or I am cold at other times; and quite abandoned by Selene, in favour of that Helios, or Demeter's wrath.
