This is a shipwide, public broadcasting of the terms of a meeting I- Melkor, who some know as Morgoth- held with the so-called High King Thranduil, delivered as an attachment. May his acquaintances, allies, friends, and enemies take note.

For those short on time or interest: like most creatures of any sense or instinct for self-preservation, especially in environs such as these, I strike back when struck.

Those who wish to speak with me regarding this or other concerns may leave a message with the date, time, and location of a suggested meeting place, where conversation will be had in person. All other messages will go unresponded to.

the little tendrils of his spirit are quite certainly Less Than Calm in their search for their master. and once they find melkor, they doesn't let go until mairon manages to physically find him as well.]

[ True to his word, he doesn't reply over the network. Instead casts out his spirit in return, pocketing the device, going quickly to meet the maia. He hides nothing in that connection.

It is a snarl of emotion; elation, delight, fear, fury. As soon as he sees the familiar silhouette, he hurries his stride, and does not stop until he has pulled Mairon to him in a tight embrace, speaking in a rush. ]

I know, I know. I know.

But it had to be done, Mairon. I've learned enough trawling for information in these long days to know that it would not take long for them to discover me, one way or another. Forgive that I am not so grand a schemer in scope as you are; but rest assured, at least, that I am not without a plan.

[ He is thinking hard and fast, though, bristling like a beast with something to defend. ]

the sight of him is already relieving enough for mairon to let out a heavy breath when he's pulled close, pressing his furrowed brow to melkor's shoulder. his arms are all but pinned to his side, but he manages to reach with his hands, gripping as though trying not to hold too tightly, lest it betray just how much he is shaken.]

That was not my worry. [he knows that melkor isn't that reckless. probably.] Only that I do not trust the Elves not to lay their hands upon you.

[ The earlier bravado is somewhere at his feet, it feels, and he grips Mairon to him with a will. He reveals his worry between them, hiding nothing. ]

Mairon, The Ship will have us all devouring each other if something is not swiftly done to stop it. They are not as treacherous as you suspect; or at least, will not be at first. And the fewer of us there are, the faster our doom will come to us. No; I must rouse them from the malaise of inaction. If I cannot have all our weapons pointed in the same direction, then at least we will all be armed and wary.

[ He exhaled a slow breath, let himself release Mairon a little. Touched their foreheads together. ]

I mean to investigate the system areas, one-by-one. We must discover some point of weakness against The Ship.

[ derek's suspicious by nature, and it's his first instinct to draw back from what looks like a bad scene. he isn't interested in a meeting. he isn't interested in anything but taking the measure of morgoth, and deciding whether or not this "strike" is going to be something that eventually touches his life. ]
