I didn't have much of a chance to use this the last time I was here.

[Aurora doesn't sound particularly sad about that. In fact, the sooner she leaves the Tranquility the second time around, the happier she'll be. Nothing personal.]

My name is Aurora. I know it must be magic that took me from my own world, and I know that there's no deal that can send me back to it. Even if there's no price I wouldn't be willing to pay.

[Her voice is softer at the last, before she lifts it and her chin once more.]

But is there really nothing that can be done for those who still sleep? No one who can wake them? I know what it is to be under such a curse. It's a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.

Usually, we don't really ... notice. I've heard the jumps actually go on for ages, but while we're in those things, it all just goes right on by - happens about once a month. Aside from that disoriented feeling when you wake up ... [ she shrugs. ]

Maybe it's different when we're outside of a jump. But, as far as I know, there's no way into the pods until they open on their own.

You mentioned magic? I'm not holding my breath, but that does sound plausible enough to explain as to how we got here.

I don't know if I'd immediately jump to magic even if it is a possibility. But I'm still fairly new at all this myself.

[ She shrugs a little. ] More so now than before. I don't remember anyone getting stuck back when I first got here, but then there was a month - I think - where half the ship stayed in their pods. Ever since then, it's been... sporadic, but definitely happening.

Medical's working on it. Considering the fact that they woke up on their own last time, it's safer to let it work itself out than risk damaging the life support on the pods.

It must be a very weak curse to be broken by time alone, and a short amount at that.

So I've heard. It's a relief, though a day trapped in that room is still too long.

I have. But when I returned home, it was like a dreamless sleep. I remembered none of it.

I think we just have to wait. I was asleep last month and I didn't realize time had passed until I'd woken up and was told I'd been sleeping for an extra month.

It's shocking and a bit disturbing to realize you've missed time, but I wouldn't describe it as terrible.

[She hesitates at his question. But what harm can it do? She might even be able to help.]

I was once placed under a sleeping curse, one that still makes he hesitant to close my eyes. That's why it troubles me to see people who haven't opened theirs.

Probably in the minority here, but I'm with you. We should figure out a way to get those people out of stasis. Aside from keeping this floating pile of junk functional, that should be our number one priority. [Good luck getting others to listen to that line of reasoning, though.]
