If they've gone any messages you send to their communicator will come back to you. If they just don't reply they're still here somewhere.

If it's any help, I've known people who left and then came back and talked about having been back where they came from. So if your friend's gone, chances are good they've gone back home.

[He sees this, he just doesn't know what to say. He can't bring himself to tell her that Arthur's gone, that he and Sirius looked everywhere they possibly could.

But he doesn't want her to be alone either. So Merlin leaves his comms device behind and goes to her room.]

[ She's in her room, to be sure, unhappy because while Merlin didn't tell her, others had confirmed her fears. And he can easily come into her room if he pleases.]

[He calls her name softly, letting her know that he's outside her room and coming in before he actually does. Merlin leans back against the door, eyes downcast.]
