[ the teenager in the feed today is a thin blond with blue eyes. he's a little too pale, a little shaky-looking, but he's smiling pleasantly, dressed neatly in a white button-down shirt and suspenders with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows. he lifts a hand in a brief wave, the fingers stained and spotted with old chemical burns. ]
Ah, guten tag, everyone. I have to admit, after reading that I'm on a ship flying through space, I was a bit skeptical at first, but all things considered, I suppose I've heard stranger. [ he's actually controlling how excited he is, tbh. space has kind of been his dream for years, so to have the chance to actually be flying through the stars-- well. even news of all the threats on board haven't dampened his spirits, yet.
give him a few weeks to miss his boyfriend. that'll probably do it.
he clears his throat, the sound hoarse and raspy, expression faintly embarrassed as he does so. he's not coughing right now, but he also wants to finish addressing the network before he starts. even if he's not as secretive about being ill as he used to be, it's still humiliating.
he dips his head briefly in a polite nod, smile turning faintly shy. ] Anyway, I'm Alfons Heiderich, and I'm originally from 1923 Germany, so it may take me just a bit to grow accustomed to some of the technology here. I do pick things up quickly, though, which.. somewhat leads me into the point of this entry. I'm not certain who to talk to--perhaps Herr Kirk or Herr Spock?--so I hope that someone who can lead me in the right direction will see this. I would like to assist with the maintenance and repair of the systems on this ship, if the help is at all needed. I was a physicist and.. engineer and.. [ blushing a little, now, embarrassed again. ] .. chemist.. and mechanic.. back home, so. I believe given a bit of time to familiarize myself with the Tranquility, I may be of some small use. [ and he'd like to keep busy. ] .. I do have some health issues, but I don't believe that they would keep me from working-- they haven't before, at the least. Not-- Not for the most part.
[ he pauses a little uncertainly, then offers another quick smile. ] Thank you very much for your time. [ and the feed ends. ]

[ a pause, teeth digging into his lower lip briefly. ] .. I don't suppose you know if there's someone on board named Edward Elric? I looked through the manifest, but-- [ it can't hurt to ask around, just in case. ]

Only by name. They were mentioned in one of the informational entries. [ a pause, blinking. ] --Herr Kirk is a.. captain?
permavoice;
Yes, Captain Kirk commands the Enterprise. It... Isn't here, obwiously.

I can imagine. I suppose everyone finds a way to keep busy and make themselves useful here, though. [ a slight fidget, lifting a hand to tuck his hair back behind an ear, expression vaguely embarrassed again (and maybe more than a little interested). ] --The Enterprise is a spacefaring ship?

Do you think you vill vork here as a scientist? I suppose it vould be difficult coming from so far in the past. Although ve don't even know what year it is here, so perhaps that isn't such a big deal.

[ a hesitant nod. ] I'd like to. I've missed my work. There wasn't a great deal of use for rocketry in the-- the, ah, world I just arrived from. I feel as if I could pick things up fairly quickly here, though.

I did not have wery much trouble learning the communication systems, but they aren't too different from the Enterprise's. Ve didn't spend wery long on the early 20th Century at the Academy, but it seems to be pretty intuitiwe. At least, I think it is intuitiwe. Maybe the rocket systems vill be similar.

--May I ask what you do aboard your ship?

They, ah.. have to do with my lungs. Mostly. I'd rather not.. discuss them like this, though.
voice forever!
[And this is the tap-tap-tap of him doing just that.]

.. May I ask why you're.. inquiring..?
[encrypted like 15% sorry Alfons he sucks]
[There's satisfaction in his voice, and he nods once the filter is up.]
I am inquiring because you expressed uncertainty with regards to whether or not your issues would hinder your ability to work. I wish to know more about them, so that I myself might judge.
god, miles. 8'|
:')
I am with Security.

[ a slightly flustered pause. ] .. I can at least promise that my health isn't a-- a security risk. [ how it even could be, he has no idea. ]

[The frown is almost audible.]
Then you should go down to the medbay at the very least. Find yourself a doctor.

I certainly intend to. Thank you, Herr Edgeworth.
no subject
Precisely why would you be thanking me, young man?
no subject
[ yes this is going to be an interesting stay. ]

[He gives a little bit of a huff. Stop calling him out on his heart of gold; he wants to continue to be crusty.]
That's - In any case! Has anyone from engineering responded.

Yes. A woman named River Song is on the committee; I do not know her personally, but she seems like an intelligent individual. I - I shall set up an appointment with a doctor for you, if you so wish.
no subject
That would be very kind of you, thank you. Perhaps that should be my priority right now.

[He nods once, relieved in spite of himself.]
I'll call someone at once. Dr. Simon Tam is highly competent; he'll see you, I am sure.
