[This is a crawlspace. It's tight, kinda dirty. The cleaners haven't been working, or whatever. Either way? Musty, dusty, dirty. Also dark. Barely lit by the communicator's light. Megmaind is smudged and filthy after crawling into small tight places where that big head of his is something of a hindrance.]

So I heard something rattling around in one of the crawlspaces in engineering. Not sure how it happened -- it was a pretty weird noise. When I poked around to investigate I found him.

[Cue focus on a orange tabby, who is equally filthy, and curled up at the end of a vent making mrrrr mrrrr warning noises as he presses himself flat and tries to not be a target of the 'big bad alien'.]

I haven't seen Ellen Ripley since the last jump -- but I found her cat. Don't suppose there's a vet on board? I don't know how long he's been up here or what he's been eating -- but I do know he's a walking dust mop and I'm sure not bathing him, leather gloves or no leather gloves.

[He shifts the comm to another hand-- and sighs, reaching out to gather up Jones (who yowls in protest but does not bite or claw) and tucks him into his jumpsuit, zipping it up. All the while, Megamind is not in focus, muttering something like claw my chest up and you are going to be fed to that guy who eats garbage before he shifts position again, and then turns off the comm so he can get out of the crawlspaces.]

Have you found something for him to eat? Cats aren't like dogs or people. They need to eat or they can get sick.

I'm aware of your affection for the creatures, Miss Ritchi. I am also aware they need to eat.

I'm in engineering. I have no idea how the cat traveled so far-- but I'll bring him back toward the passenger decks. Maybe you can manage him.

[and then he shuts the comm off for a time]

[Welp. That stings. She throws the comm, and it skitters under the bed.

Either he's coming, or he's...just.

[About thirty minutes later-- Megamind is at her door, jumpsuit mostly zipped. Filthy cat and filthy alien -- both looking less than thrilled.]

Miss Ritchi? I brought the cat!

[She lifts a brow and allows him to come in, letting the door shut behind him.]

Come on -- wow, you both need a bath. [Sheesh.]

Some of the crawlspaces are dirty, yes.

[The cat just looks surly, tired and hungry.]

Is it going to die?

Let me see him?

[She holds her hands out for the cat after tugging the sleeves of her jumpsuit down. Hopefully it wont claw her to death.]

[He extends the furry bundle gladly. Jones isn't dangerous, he's just sulking.]

I think I'm going to have to hit the showers.

[You know what? He hates that very idea. public bathing oh god.]

[She gathers the cat into her arms, giving him a brief nuzzle with her cheek before lifting a hand to scratch his head.]

I think he'll be okay. He just needs food and water, and I can take care of that. You'd be surprised at what a cat will eat.

[Her eyes flick to him, pressing her lips together.]

Probably. You're -- filthy. [Hiding a smile.]

Right. Uh. You -- you can look after him? I don't know that he'll-- ah, get along with the brainbot.

[Or maybe it will he doesn't know. He's never had... pets he didn't build, okay?]

We--

[She shifts the cat in her arms.]

We could do it together?

[He pauses in the door way -- fidgets, because he doesn't know how to be that person.]

I'm not-- what you'd call a dependable guy. Not a good... guy.

[He's not that guy. He's a schlub. A villain. He's bad. And why part of him -- really wants to know how he got her to look at him like that... he's more then a little afraid of it, too.]

I could-- try. I guess. But I don't even-- live in the passenger deck anymore.

Don't--don't go.

[She sees him so rarely, she doesn't really want him to leave so soon.]

I'll show you everything you need to know about it, if you like.

[She asks and he stops, uncertain.]

Right. First-- how we are cleaning him? He's filthy.

Well, that might be difficult, considering the showers are communal. But...cats generally bath themselves. I doubt our little orange friend here would really appreciate a bath.

[She scratches his head.]

I think he might be able to get himself pretty clean. You'd be surprised.

If...he doesn't, then I suppose we can get some damp towels and rub him down.

[Submersing the tabby seemed like an extremely bad idea.]

I think damp towels sound --better. Smarter then leaving him... covered and hoping he sorts it out on his own.

Hm. Probably not. I'll get some and give him a good rub. [She has no idea whats in those spaces.]

Jones, huh? [She holds him up to look at her, and gets a purr in response.]

He looks like a Jones. [She likes him.]

He was Ellen's cat. She's-- gone now. Didn't come out of the couches. But he did, I guess.

[Megamind doens't know what to make of that.]

He should-- probably stay down here. With you. Safer.

[....She doesn't either.]

Sure. I'll take care of him - if you come visit.

[The ship ate her. But left the cat.]

[Venturing, here. She's just trying to take things slow.]

[He nodded once.]

[She smiles at him and it's...very genuine and relieved but also sad at the same time.]

Great.

[She looks down at the cat in her arms, then back up to him.]

...You know, if you need me for anything -- anything at all -- you just have to call me. I'm here for you.

[Clears throat.]

I just thought you should know.

Of course.

[Still so uncertain of that, but he gives her a lopsided smile.]

I'll get some water and towels, but, ah.. I really do need to hit the shower after.

[He's pretty freakin' grimy.]

[She smiles back, holding the purring cat close. The cat is like an anchor, keeping her grounded and sane. She receives a little nuzzle for her trouble, and she drops a little kiss to the felines dirty head.]
