[All things considered, Nyreen thinks she is settling in well, as much as things are still strange and she's running out of things to do on her own to keep herself sharp, focused without going crazy for having nothing to focus on. Official expectations here seem to be about zero and those of the other passengers are... varied, to say the least.]
I have three questions. You don't have to be able to answer them all to respond, any sort of conversation will do.
1. How familiar are you all with aliens - that is, sentient organic races from a star system that wasn't your own? There are a lot of humans here, so it makes one curious. We are on a spaceship, after all.
2. Does anyone here spar? If there's any sort of organized club for physical training, I haven't heard of it, but I'd be interested if anyone wants someone to practice hand-to-hand combat with.
3. How exactly does one go about joining the Security team here? I'm interested in helping out, willing to go through an application process if necessary.

[Whereas Nyreen would be perfectly happy trying to hand Garrus's ass to him while they both blow off that pent up feeling of being aboard a ship without something to do for too long. She's never met a turian who's served anywhere and didn't know that feeling, so she had to imagine he was at least starting to feel the same.]
Re: [Text]
[Boy was he ever, and he could feel himself getting irritable as a side effect which was not something that he wanted around so many humans that didn't know what a turian was.]

1. Life on other planets always seemed plausible to me, but when I left Earth, we hadn't met any yet. I do know quite a few sentient, organic non-humans from Earth though, if that helps?
2. I do and I'd love to learn other methods.

1. I'm curious now about your non-humans. I don't think I've heard about anything fitting that description.
2. Preferred method thus far?

2. Magical. I'm most self-taught, so it's all a bit of a mix.

And why would you want to join Security?

But your universe... it used to have aliens and they just died off?
voice
[She sighs at the question.] Yeah, they did. All we have left of them are their ruins and tech.

I cannot say anything for the first or the last, but if you'd care to spar I would be interested.[text]

Purely physical. I've no skill in magic, nor any true desire to learn. I work with my hands or with my blades as needed.[text]

Further I myself am not native to Earth.
Those arriving upon the Tranquility from alternative planets have historically existed as a minority.

Eventually she gives up and notes it as a ship mystery long enough to reply and not be rude, at least.]
I'm not a human, either. Turian. Most humans here seem to be infinitely more unfamiliar with the rest of the aliens in their galaxy than I'm used to, so it's just taken me by surprise, I suppose.
Thank you for your response, though. It is good to know I'm not alone.

hello! i'm lute, and i'm from earth, but i'm fae. i'm not used to people from other star systems, but there are a lot of non-humans where i'm from. i don't know if that counts!
it would be nice if i could fight and protect myself, but i think i'm far too small to ever intimidate anyone.
text.
Also I've never really believed that size had much to do with anyone's ability to protect themselves, Lute. You just need to find the methods that work for you.
[Nyreen is assuming whatever this fae is just sort of runty, and in need of a good "you don't have to have the biggest cowl to be powerful" pep talk. It's okay. She's still new.]

If you want to sign up I'll run you through an assessment process.
Looking at your skills + experience.
[And general personality and manner, but she doesn't say that part.]
For sparring there's sometimes a fight club.
Otherwise you usually have to contact people one-on-one.

Where and when would you like me for the assessment?
