[ Daylen rarely uses the network.

In fact, the few times he does it's either in private messages or replies to other people. He can't shake the distrust of it, a distrust as much from inability to understand as general suspicion over how it works.

Still. Alistair uses it. Other people he likes and gives credit to use it. If it indeed works as it seems to, then it could be a useful tool.

More importantly, it could gather him the answers he seeks. Even the ones he might not wish to hear but has to.

A moment of your time, for those inclined to answer.

I have heard stories of those who vanish during jumps or before, mixed information.

I have heard that those who vanish completely -- their reference upon these things returns a different message which indicates this.

I have heard some vanish and return at a later 'jump', with different memories. Some remember this place, some do not. Some with different demeanour or events recalled to when they left. Some differently gendered, even.

I would like to hear from people who have experience with this, or anything to add. I wish to understand better. Thank you in advanced.

We can't, I guess. Any more than we can be sure of anything else here. I don't know if remember is the right word. She was sure, but it's like she couldn't talk about it. I'd ask her a question and she'd start to answer but she'd get distracted or start talking about something else.

I should have pushed it more but I was so happy to see her I didn't think to.

Yeah. She left again. It's been longer this time.

I don't think she's coming back.

Yours too, Daylen. I'm Heather. Seems like everyone who's been here more than a jump has lost someone.

I guess you probably understand why I didn't push like I should have, then. It's easier to deal with if I can think she's gone back home. Not that home was so easy for her, she was mtf and from Ireland in the 70s. Maybe that's the real reason she didn't talk about it.

voice; THAT'S PRECISELY WHY I HAD HER SAY IT :D

[She stares at the little device for some time before she replies - everything she types out seems clinical and somehow a betrayal, so she switches to voice and decides hell with it, whatever comes out will do.]

She was - um - born male, but she lived as a woman. A lady, really. The most ladylike woman I've ever known.

VOICE FOREVER

I don't -

[She sounds as hesitant as she ever does (which isn't very), because once she got over the fact that before Kitten had all her makeup on she looked just like Capa and Doctor Crane it was easy enough to forget that the physical aspects didn't really match up to the way she conducted herself.]

I'm not sure it was a choice. It was just her, just the way she was. If she'd acted like a guy, that would have been weird.

[Sadly Heather's not paying too much attention to the confused tone because the fact that Daylen's saying her instead of being an asshole about it makes him an A+ guy who's Totally Got This in her books.]

Yeah. She could have lived as a guy and felt totally miserable and wrong her whole life, or she could just... be herself and be happy. Or happier, I guess.

Where're you from?
