I didn't think that space would be this climatic, honestly.

Who ever thinks oh, I'm going to space to fight going crazy, to find a place where people die by monster attacks and red emotes? I don't know when you grew up but when the kids in elementary school said I want to be an astronaut I think they thought I want to go to the moon and pee in my spacesuit and not I want to fight against the next thing a hellboat throws at me. But I'm just guessing.

[A pause, and a laugh, pleased]

I never wanted to be an astronaut.

I always kind of wanted to be a pirate.

It always sounded much cooler.

This stuff normally doesn't happen on a starship.

I'm meeting a lot of people who are really comfortable on starships.

Is it normally really boring?

Sometimes, yeah. I think it depends on what the ship's assignment is. This isn't an ordinary ship with an ordinary assignment.

What would be an ordinary assignment?

I picked up the important parts of astronaut training when I was a kid. Part of the reason I never wanted to be one.

Was it restful?

I heard that too. Long hours, no benefits, and you really don't get to be a people person.

But space is all about going crazy. [Apparently, Nyreen thinks she's funny. Then again, it's not space that'll drive you crazy, it's everything and everyone else in it.]

You could always pick up piracy out here, too, if you're interested in it. I don't know how prevalent it might be on a ship like this, but space certainly doesn't lack for pirates where I've been.
