[The feed opens on what's probably a familiar view to some of them: the corridor right outside the bridge, the doors locked closed. In the unfamiliar, though, there's a Doberman sitting very patiently right beside it. And then the camera flips to show Taylor instead, like she'd been messing with the encryption and forgotten to have the video pointing in the right direction. Either way, she looks annoyed.]

Don't think this is gonna be a surprise to anyone, but Ward is AWOL. [A beat.] Or MIA. Who knows, this fucking ship.

[But she thinks it's more likely the latter.]

Betting Resnik's the same, if anyone wants to check.

[Because she doesn't need to comment on this in relation to those other two turning up, does she.]

[ No, she definitely doesn't. Carolyn looks unsettled anyway, having ducked into the shuttle she was working on to take the call and now glad she did. ]

Resnik could be in any of the vents, but I'm willing to go with your bet on this one.

[ One hand swipes across her face. ] They weren't looking for Ward. They were looking for a woman, the captain who doesn't say she's a captain. [ Or some bullshit. ] Could be her.

[ Not like anyone hasn't guessed that, but she may as well say it. ]

It's gotten pretty Invasion of the Bodysnatchers around here. Honestly not sure what to make of it.

Generally people aren't going to be any more aware than usual that they're not around. Or shouldn't, unless the information gets circulated. Might be an idea to make sure that doesn't happen. Don't need armies storming the bridge.

Something like that. The last thing we need is yet another excuse to be suspicious of each other, but I can't see any way around it.

At the risk of being reactionary: They could be anyone. The real key is finding out how much of a danger they are.

I don't think anything's a coincidence on this ship.

[A slight shake of her head.]

Anyone's gonna check, should be engineering. [Because that's where Resnik should be.] And I'm thinking we all need to be watching out for them. Not expecting your department to do anything active, just wanted you aware.

[And she values his opinion enough to want him in on any discussions that might happen about the situation.]

Resnik? Could be.

[Because Resnik did always seem like the more active of the two, even if Ward played guarddog for the bridge.]

Could be they were just saying more cryptic bullshit.

[She's dealt with enough people talking about storming the bridge, she isn't adding fuel to that fire.]

We can decide how or if we tell our departments, and if it needs to go further.

[Totally neutral. He's not really for or against telling the ship at large, because like she said - it's not surprising. As far as he's concerned all he needs to know in regards to that is what to tell his own people.]

[ She sighs, rubs her temples for a moment, ignoring the grease on the back of her hand. ]

But it's cryptic bullshit that they seem to think means something. Same as Caffrey did when he came back.

[ She didn't have the patience for it then, barely has the patience for it now -- only it's unsettled her, now. ]

No. 'Less it starts looking like they've really gotta know, most us telling them is gonna lead to is more tries on the bridge.

[Ward wasn't an active presence normally. His complete absence, if it was permanent, could be a problem, but in the immediate, it didn't change a hell of a lot.]

[That gets a pause, a frown pinching her brow that's less the annoyance of before and more consideration and caution over what she's going to say next.]

Caffrey's done it a few times. And he was arguing with them.

Not a fan of sharing the attention or something else?

[ ... she's leaning toward "something else", just because that seems to be their sort of luck. ]

I'll put those I trust the most on the case. They can keep their eyes open for leaks and any hint that they're not as absent as we thought.

Tracking our new old friends' activity will be top priority too.

[he only knows because he knew Tim, saw them go under in the network- but those numbers hadn't come up when the posted.]

[Jim exhales, it sounds weary, like this isn't a conversation he wanted to have but knew it was somehow inevitable. like maybe he hadn't wanted to be proven correct.]

My bet is on her.

And they said I didn't have to ask. That I "knew", and asked me to tell them if I see her. [ She scowls. ] What the hell does that mean?

Is there anyone on the ship he may have told? It might be easier to talk to them first.

[Jim rubs the back of his neck; he's not sure how they could have known that. but they were definitely acting like they knew a lot more than they were saying. they sounded like Caffrey, but there was clearly some tension there.]

You were the only one who mentioned Resnik.

When the power went out, Resnik was the one who organized us. She was the one who gave the orders to each department. There's no reason she should have done that if Ward was on board.
