So many secrets aboard one ship and such a wonderful fate awaits those who try and solve them.

[ she's bothered, Regina. She likes knowing against who she plays and this uncertainty unnerves her. Evil queen or not, she takes no pleasure in children dying. She is sitting in her room, her jacket thrown on a chair next to her. So many questions and not one answer. ]

Asking for answers is a bit much, evidently. I'll ask this then, who do you believe have them on the ship, the two people who were here before and somehow are miraculously still present or the Red Cheshire Cat who has taken to smiling from the shadows?

All roads in Wonderland belong to the Queen of Hearts.

Who do the roads aboard the Tranquility belong to?

I suppose it does. Though you would be surprised how easily one new to a situation can observe things others do not.

True. Relying on those who are seeing things with fresh eyes, yeah. [ aw it's like talking about science experiments, she's fine with that. but- ] Then again, this ship is full of things that aren't what they seem on the surface. Not everything has a hidden meaning, but it's really starting to feel like the majority of what we know about the ship might not be the simple truth.

-- Which you're probably already aware of, since you're asking who we should go to for answers. Hm.

Each department has a 'head', so to speak, though I think they're all mostly self appointed. Or people just look to them out of habit. The ship's original captain and first officer are around sometimes, but not so much recently. Not since I came back, at least.

What do we know of them? Those original crew? Supposedly they know nothing of why we're here and what brings us about. When did this begin? These - Jumps, as they are called.

[ it cannot be a coincidence. People don't just start appearing on space one day. But then again, Regina has to remind herself they're doing mostly nothing on this ship. No ransom, no slavery. She honestly cannot figure out the why. ]

The Jumps happen once a month, and.. we just had our 14th, right? So a little over a year ago. Apparently, those two crew members were left alone here before they started. But they're really evasive, I actually haven't talked to either of them personally.

Curious. A entire crew of men and women disappear mysteriously and only two remain, allegedly from a reason they know nothing of. In their place, I would like to be evasive as well. It's a clever tactic given how the being called Smiley makes more noise and fuss than they do.

[ Gwen's not usually one to think the worst of someone, but- when it comes to Ward and Resnik? it's more than a gut feeling that tells her they're not really on the crew's side here. so. she just nods, at first, tries to figure out what to say ]

The part that I find curious is that I don't think they really do have any control over what happens here. It seems like the obvious answer, they're the only ones left and they won't talk to us, but it always feels like something much bigger than that. I mean, mazes and black holes and moving hallways. It's- Not something that could really be orchestrated by two people. Or ..people at all, really.

It could be easily orchestrated by one, if one is powerful enough.

[ if one has magic then a moving hallway is a child's play and Regina remembers the mazes her own mother created with her powers. ]

But who is the one who is in control is the better question. After all, the ship doesn't move the hallways on its own.

Maybe it does, if it was built to do so. I'm not sure why they would design the ship to do it, but it's possible.

Still..

That's the same question I always find myself asking the longer I'm here- not so much the how we got here, but who made it happen. Who's picking and choosing who to bring here. Like maybe if we could just talk to them...

[ no Gwen you know it wouldn't be that simple. and the way she shakes her head after makes it clear she doesn't believe it ]

It just feels so... I mean- What's the point? Why would someone bring us here and never talk to us?

[ the second question Regina struggles with herself and in infuriates her not to know. It's easy to manipulate once she knows someone's motives but when that someone is faceless and supposedly without motives, the situation is a bit tricky.

She smiles, it is mirthless. ]

Some people just like power, dear. And to show they have it.

[ isn't that what won her mother the title of Queen of Hearts? ]

[ weirdly, Gwen isn't all that unfamiliar with that kind of smile, nor the statement that went along with it. she knows there's people like that in the world, people who take their power and abuse it, try to use it as a means to hurt instead of help. but. her mind never goes there first, she can't bring herself to assume the worst. even if it.. does seem true. so she nods, a little bit, tries to smooth out her expression into something a little less worried ]

You're right. [ said with a bit of reluctance, but only on her own part. she's not naive enough to try and argue it, to try and say 'but what if-!' because the way things are here? they all point to someone with cruel intentions and the power to carry them out ] Sorry, I got a little rambly there, huh? I guess I've just been thinking about it a lot. I have all these questions that nobody can seem to answer so it ends up just sort of building up in my head like this big- [ she gestures something like 'big messy pile of doom' and then ends up shaking her head again ] Anyway. Um, I'm Gwen.

It's just fine, dear. If you didn't have those questions, I would think you to be a fool. And one day -

[ hopefully soon. ]

We will all have our answers.

[ her voice turns pleasant again. ]
