[Today's video post reveals Simon against the usual backdrop of Medbay--it's clear he's a little exhausted from the blackout and subsequent jump, but he does his best to appear put-together and professional, because that's what you should do when addressing large amounts of people.]

At this point I think the customary welcome would be…more than a little redundant, so I'll try to be brief.

[He coughs a little, more to fill the silence than anything, clearly a little unaccustomed to making these kinds of announcements.]

My name is Simon, I'm one of the doctors on board. My background is in trauma surgery, but we're all used to working outside our specialties here. Physicians, nurses, laboratory technicians, you…get the idea.

I won't pretend we're not understaffed, or that the hours aren't long, but anything you can offer is appreciated. If you're interested in joining the medical team and have the knowledge or experience, let me know, and we can put you on staff.

[Simon's brow furrows. Even if he didn't know them very well, good medical personnel is something of a precious commodity in situations like this.]

We've lost a few good doctors recently, and we could use any willing volunteers.

N....no, I don't. I mean, bandages and stuff, but I don't really..cut people open. Just, um. Heal them?

I— Yeah, I guess it's a little confusing.. Um. A demonstration would probably be better, huh? [ and maybe a couple of seconds where he chews at his lip ] When would be good?

A demonstration would be...great, if you're willing. I take the night shift in Medbay. The...whatever the ship considers night.

Simon. Okay. If, if not tonight, then is it okay if I stop in a few nights from now?

That's fine. You can always send a message to zero-one-zero-zero-three-zero whenever you decide to come in.

[ give him a second-- he's writing that down!! and he nods once he's done. ]

R- Right. Got it. Um, I'm at zero one zero, zero five four. [ and then a little pause! ] Wait, that, does that mean we came in at the same time? [ interesting..! ]

[ and hey, he's going to grin just a little!! it's comforting to meet someone who's been here as long as he has, somehow. everyone else he's met so far as been here longer, or came in after... ]
