Considering... well, everything lately, I think I'd like to look into brushing up on self-defense. I only know some basics, really, but I feel like it would be a good idea to know more. If anyone would be willing to teach me, please let me know.

I'm afraid I don't have much to offer in return, but I can cook and I teach biology at Culver University in Virginia. My specialty is cellular biology. If that or other sciences are something that interests you, I'd be happy to continue teaching here, with or without anything in exchange.

I think it might be prudent to check on the gravity couches and the stasis fluid before the jump, just in case the power failure may have damaged them.

I won't lie -- it's a bit selfish. I miss teaching.

How is that selfish? I think everyone here misses doing things like they normally would have. Considering all the sorts of folk that live here with us, you'd find willing students, I'd imagine.

Well, I win both ways. But I do hope people will be interested.

I'd like to know more about cellular biology. I could teach you self-defense.

What sort of self defense techniques do you know?

All kinds. I fight a lot. [And she doesn't really use those techniques (she doesn't need to) but they're all programmed in there.]

Is there a type you prefer?

Whatever lets me win. You have to be adaptable; it's the key to survival.

You should learn aikido first. Or krav maga. Do you know how to use a gun?

We trained arms at Winterfell--and my brothers have seen battle, even if I haven't. If you would want to learn of the sword or bow, I could ask them to teach you, Betty Ross. And we wouldn't need repayment.

I wouldn't want to inconvenience your brothers -- though it would be interesting to learn, I think.

If I asked, then they would be happy to help you. You could cook for all of us, and the direwolves, too--if you have time enough.

What kinda self defense are you lookin' to learn? I don't have a knife on me here, but I can teach ya stuff to do without weapons.

Well, what do you know already? You said you got some basics, right?

Some unarmed things -- weak spots to hit, that sort of thing.

That sounds like a pretty good start, you can do a lot with that. You wanna know stuff more along the lines of just takin' somebody down or, uh, killin' 'em?

...Probably can't hurt to know both.

That works. What do you know about basic strikes and take downs? Knowin' how to hit somebody's about as important as knowin' where to hit.

Well, I know when you punch someone, your thumb goes on the outside of your fist.

...And you know to punch with just the first two knuckles?

... You're only supposed to use the first two knuckles?

[Oh dear.]

Uh... Well, yeah. The other ones are smaller so they could get broken more easily. That's just annoyin' to deal with when you're in a fight, you know? And for some reason if you use less knuckle space it's supposed to hurt more. Not sure why.

[Normally, Heine wouldn't bother since lol, woman. But Betty has been nothing but helpful to he and Nill since arriving and he guesses that he owes her that much. Although...his kind of 'self-defense' isn't everyone's normal definition of it.]

If you're that desperate to learn...I guess I could see what I could do.

Everything with the ship, really. The fog, the outpost and the creatures before that. It just keeps adding up.

And everyone on here is still left in the dark about it, huh? Good to see things haven't changed.

Someone recognized the fog as something that happened in their own world, but other than that...

You're talking about the creepy fog that brought people to different worlds, right? Shouldn't that someone have known how to get rid of it then? It was a real pain in the ass for everyone.
