[ he's outside of the Oxygen Gardens which means the lighting is pretty awful but not as bad as the rest of the ship because he's in the first hallway away from it. he wanted to get out of the center of all the noise. mostly, what's coming into view is what he's wearing. his jumpsuit zipped just above his breastplate and a terribly bright orange t-shirt under said suit. but thanks Jon Snow, he took your advice to heart straight from the network without saying anything. layer up. no way no how was he leaving anything he might need in his bedroom; his greaves are on his legs too.
and then his hand where he's lopsidedly angling the camera (whoops), waiting for the screen to load up and soothing Mrs. O'Leary at his side, hand at the scruff of her neck, scratching and petting. ]
Some of you know me but a lot of you don't. I'm Percy, and for anyone who missed it: [ he pans the camera off of him and steps back, and back and back and back. until his hellhound that's relatively the size of their presumed only living dinosaur on board is completely in view. ] This is Mrs. O'Leary.
Now you're probably thinking, sure, that's great but we're in the middle of an emergency so take your hellhound and sit down. But I do have a point. [ and that's when he takes the comm back and flips it over, where he can stare it down. ] Being what she is, she has a way of getting in and out of the cabins - or any room - without using the doors. She doesn't need them. That said, I want to offer our help.
[ she nudges his elbow, looms at his side and almost makes him drop the comm in her eagerness to smell it. ] Easy, girl.
We're willing to retrieve anyone trapped in their rooms for as long as she's able and anything we can find while we're there that looks like it'd help keep the rest of you warm. Everything else you might need isn't going anywhere if the door's sealed up tight, so it can wait.
And just in case anyone goes there, I'm not sitting tight and staying out of it. That's not even near the table.

[ there is obvious approval in robb's tone. his bannermen know what's up. ]
All the blankets you could find during your travels would be needed. There are many here, and I've been told it shall get colder.
no subject
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. I could send them down to the gardens with whatever passengers I find. Whatever they can't carry, I will. Are you staying with your family?
no subject
[ this is why you're his bannerman, son. ]
Aye, I've gathered my family to me, and most of those associated with our house. Tyke has asked that I stay in the Garden with them.
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )
[ he doesn't like assuming the worst is going to happen but he'd rather feel stupid after for wearing it for nothing than find out he worried what other people thought of him and he died. ]
Keep them safe, Robb. [ Sansa's down there and he knows how well she can do under pressure as long as it's political. she shouldn't have to fall through ice or suffer in a burning village, alone, ever again. ] I'll come set up camp nearby when I'm done up here.
[ and here, he's switching over to some kind of filter. ]
Can you do me a favor?
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )
[ without a moment's hesitation. ]
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )
That's all I'm asking.
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )

[ he's dead back home. to not change after that, to not aim for Elysium.. Percy doesn't know what to think because they've always had a rocky friendship. but he thinks of Hermes (most of all) and Annabeth, how important Luke is or was, to both of them. ]
But out of all the friends I have here, you deserve to know. It's not a story I like recounting, I'm not even sure it's mine to share. What I want you to know is that he's a work in progress. Don't turn your back on him if you don't have to.
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )
[ a beat ]
You're willingness to give him a second chance does you credit. In Westeros not many indulge such a kindness.
( FILTERED TO ROBB STARK )
probably because being forgiving doesn't erase the risk. he appreciates Robb for putting a spin on it. ]
I owe him. His fate was chosen long before I came into the picture. I get that now more than I ever did before. He used his life to get a point across about all the unclaimed demigod children. It's hard enough for us to survive out in the world because monsters can always find us, without having to deal with not having any idea where you came from.
no subject
[ Pause. ]
And how come your hellhound is visible?
no subject
She's Greek. They're all visible. [ . . . wait. ] Do you have one or something?
no subject
Someone left me one, yeah. He's invisible to most people.
no subject
no subject
He comes when I call. On top of the smell and the noise, he's pretty good at bumping into me to let me know he's there.
no subject
I didn't think there were any other friendly hellhounds anywhere out there. [ it's not said with scorn or childish anger that he's not special anymore or whatever. it's a good thing. he's happy because he knows best, how something and what something is born into doesn't have to define them. ]
What's his name?
no subject
Howly. [ Awkward laugh time. ] I didn't name him.
no subject
Hellhounds have got to be the inheritance pet of this decade. If I named mine I wouldn't have gone with Mrs. O'Leary, either. But I can't really see myself calling her anything else after all this time.
no subject
Yeah, same with me. I'm not good at naming things anyway.

Who am I looking up? [ do you have a name, bro? ]
not here.
not here.
Re: not here.

Hi, Percy. I'm John Blake. I'm running collection and distribution right now, if you noticed our little... pavilion in the garden. I appreciate your offer of help. I've got a few people making delivery runs of supplies collected throughout the ship, so feel free to pass off anything you find to them. Wilee, or Tommy Burgess, in particular. They both look a lot like me, but with shorter hair. Thanks.
video;
Yeah, I know you. You're that guy that didn't want me going after the jerk that shot Wichita. [ and you look like Brendan, that he can't forget. but whatever happened then, after the threat about getting locked in the brig, he slides right over that. ] I saw. Face twins. Gotta tell you, never gets any less weird. But if I see either of them, I'll definitely give them something to run to you.
video;
He raises his eyebrows slightly in recognition - the past day or so, he's been so focused and working so hard on things that faces are starting to blur.]
Right. [He won't apologize for what he said, he said it for Percy's own good. Violence isn't the answer, kid.] Maybe it's weird. It's in the background kind of weird, though. It'd probably be weirder if I avoided them more. [A rare moment of just pure honesty. It's probably the exhaustion talking, though.] Thanks again. We need all the help we can get.
video;
and he doesn't expect an apology. he's been through so much in the past four or five years that it seems so trivial. mortals have a different code of conduct, that's all. sometimes, the only precautionary action is violence to combat more of it. ] Somehow, I don't think that's it at all. Not avoiding them.
[ seeing Simon more wouldn't make him tolerable. ] No problem. I don't mind. I'd just be pacing back and forth down in the gardens if I wasn't keeping myself busy, anyway. And the last thing we need is her getting worked up into a frenzy behind me, all over the plant life.
video;
I understand needing to keep busy. [It's why he's doing this, after all. He'd much rather run himself ragged trying to make sure everyone has blankets and water than sitting around twiddling his thumbs.]
video;
[ he can't lie; he feels responsible for Simon in a weird brotherly/twin way, despite being polar opposites. they've saved each other multiple times and that's not a pattern he's willing to break just because he's a handful. ] It's not the waiting that bugs me. It's that I don't know what we're waiting for.
video;
Keep busy, and you don't have to think so much about the waiting.
video;
..How would she be able to get in?
video;
She can shadow travel. [ oh okay, Jackson, that explains everything. ] Practically anywhere with how low the lights are.
video;
You mean she can..become a shadow?
video;
She can manipulate the darkness by turning into it, so yeah, you wouldn't be able to see her. She could use that to go through one of the cabin walls and get inside where she would appear on the other, and do the same thing to get back.
video;
[ a frown ]
I wonder how many of us are trapped.
video;
Probably more than I really want to think about and less if I can find them. Did you get out of your room okay?
video;
[ his tone is a bit wry ]
I think I've had quite a bit of luck on that, thank you. So much that I don't believe I shall be going back inside it anytime soon. My concerns lie with my friend. I've yet to find him.
[video]
...y-y-you sure that's a dog and n-not a baby elephant dressed up like one? And h-how does she get in and out of the doors?
[video]
I'm pretty sure. Otherwise, I've been lied to for the past couple of years and I have the best baby elephant in the history of the world. She can go straight through them or the walls. She doesn't have to use the doors like we do.
[video]
[He's precious and a complete idiot. Sorry.]
