Such a curious thing these "jumps" are. A pity no one can remain awake during them to observe just what goes on.
What is clear is that even more people have been transported here against their will. But how many are missing?

I heard someone mentioning them earlier, what exactly does a jump define in this case?

Uh, also, I'm Tavros. I guess, introducing myself first, might have been more polite, sorry.

My name is Alexander. Like many others here, I have only experienced one jump so far... but apparently there was one just before our arrival.

[Considering that the only other adult human male he's really met was Maine, this is not an especially grand feat on Alexander's part, but Tavros 1) really doesn't know better, on multiple levels, and 2) wanted to pay Alexander a compliment.]
There are a lot of questions that I have, that I guess everyone new has, Uh, I have noticed that nobody seems entirely sure of what we are doing! So, maybe, I will try not to ask too many questions, unless there is a particular aspect of the ship, or life on it, that you are informed about.

I'm afraid I can be of little help in regards to why we are here beyond the fact that the ship has apparently chosen us to replace its former crew. However, I suggest you look for two humans by the name of Resnik and Ward. They are the only [survivors] remainders of whoever was here before us.

Unless this is a being dead thing. [Tavros wasn't...entirely sure who was dead and who wasn't, aside from him, in the dream bubbles. There were doomed timelines to consider as well, and thinking about it too hard made his head hurt, but it was at least possible that the others that he knew here had died at some point as well.] Were you dead, before you came here?

[What a peculiar thing to ask. Unless...]
...He also thought that he was dead. Should you be as well?

It was, honestly, kind of nice. Like dreaming had been before. I didn't have to worry about... uh, about everything that had been going on, or if we were going to win, and survive, and save our race. I got to learn some about why things happened like they did, and also see some friends. Death's not so bad, in my experience.
[Tavros takes a little breath, and returns to the subject on hand.]
If...if a lot of us are dead, I, uhhh, I wonder if that makes us easier targets for the ship? Um. And do we know where we're going? Are we conquering planets for someone? I, uh, I was going to be cavalreaper, hopefully, so maybe I can help with that, especially if animals are involved.
[There is no doubt in Tavros's mind that he needs to find something useful to do.]

What is a cavalreaper? I have seen a few small animals on board...

It's, uh, shock troops for the Empress. We go in on mounts, with our lances and destroy resistance on the planets the fleet is conquering. Um. I can commune with animals, so it was my hope that, uh, they'd find that useful, despite, uhhh, some combat limitations that I have, though I practiced with the lance as much as I could.
So, if the animals are being pests, I could put them to a more useful purpose, I guess?

I see... Your race must be violent for one who looks so young to be prepared for combat. [Actually, that's a little unsettling. Have they hit HIS homeworld? :'| ] Hopefully this ship does not have an unfortunate run-in with this fleet.
I'll keep your offer in mind. For now, they don't seem to be getting in the way.

Uh, we are very violent, both internally and externally, in a cultural way, or at least most good trolls are. Personally, I like adventuring, uh, but I'm not really killing things, if it isn't strictly necessary. I'd basically hoped to just be able to learn about and maybe keep and breed animals for the cavalreapers, and the fleet in general, so actually...if it would be okay, I think I may summon some of the animals here anyway, just to see what they are. Maybe we can learn something about where the ship came from, if we learn about the way the native fauna of that world evolved!

[NOPE, HE TOTALLY KNOWS ABOUT THAT STUFF. He just has to keep up the pretense of being a typical human guy from the early 1800s.]
