[Tommy's transmitting this from the bar, where he basically has been living ever since his last post. He sounds a little distant, distracted, and very very drunk.] I had a wife back home. Jeanie... We married before I shipped out to Iraq. Never even had a chance to open our wedding gifts. [Gifts that he shot.] Never will, now. [BECAUSE HE SHOT THEM. Also, he's in space. Which is good, since she has a restraining order against him.]

I keep thinking about what I'd do if I ever saw her again. What I'd say... [How he'd make things right.]

I know I'm new here, but I can't be the only one missing someone. You all have somebody, right?

[He's quiet for a while, then:]

What would you say if you could see 'em again?

[OOC: To folks I owe tags to: I have not forgotten! Just gonna play catch up later today.]

[ aye carumba, soldier. somebody needs to take your communicator away when you've been drinking. and it could be Wichita, since she's usually there at the bar too, but- ]

You're talking like you don't think you'll get to go home. [ why? ]

No. [ Because he doesn't. He has Brain, sure, but Em's gone now. Em set everything in motion and he's gone.

It's why his tone is gentle--just a little.
]

Lay off the sauce, soldier.

Yeah, the moment you do you wind up getting played or worse, burned. I'm not your normal wide-eye, Tommy.

I hope so. Well.

[ she's eying his comm though, the little rec light. then she's reaching to mute it, taps the screen and lets it sit. if he gets a message, it'll go through, it just isn't recording what they're saying anymore. she leans on the bar, drums her fingers on the surface. ]

I can either hope to go home, or hope that my sister shows up here. But either one is far from a happy ending, so it feels dumb hoping for either one. [ shrugs ] She's the only person I've got, back home. To answer your question. [ ooo, someone's feeling sharey ]

Nobody alive.

Still. That doesn't seem to matter here. I guess I'd say what you probably want to say.

Don't you think you'll get back home to her? I bet she misses you. I know I miss my crew somethin' fierce, even though I got a couple of 'em here with me.

[ ah, crap. she knows that look. it means she's the distraction now, instead of the network, and some part of her locks up at the thought. hhhhhrk. ]

She's a kid. Um, twelve years old, digs Hannah Montana more than any person ever should. But I think it's cause she's got the double life thing, you know? She likes that. [ because Hannah Montana puts on a wig and has this glamorous second life, as opposed to the masks they both put on while running a con, the characters and lies. Hannah Montana wears a wig to keep that life away from her real life; being a con artist is all she and her sister have. but, we're not sharing that. ] She's the best though, I'd do anything for her. And I still haven't gotten used to being here without her, I mean, back home I never let her out of my sight. The toughest thing is thinking about her being home without me, but apparently things are paused back home, so I guess I don't have to worry much about that.

You don't think this ship could get you back where you belong? It took you away from home, didn't it? Somehow it got you here, should be able to get you back, too. Just gotta figure out the process, and reverse it!

[ beth. quinn only got to hold her daughter once, once before she gave her up. before things started to fall apart. she avoids the somebody question. she's only told one person about beth since arriving on the ship. partly because she's afraid of being judged, being known as the teenager who had the baby - the stereotype. besides isn't is better for everyone if she just doesn't talk about it? ]

I'd apologize.

Just how things work. [ A shrug. ] I tend not to question why the universe has us all on our heels, begging for a bit of reprieve.

[ Ariadne debated on searching him out, but to be honest, she wasn't exactly sure where he was. Of course she figured he might be at the bar (least from what blake mentioned to her, she assumed he liked to drink a lot) but she honestly didn't know, and running around on a wild-goose-chase looking for him, seemed a bit silly on her end.

So she just quietly said: ]

To be honest, I don't think I'd have very many nice things to say to the people I'm missing right now. [ it's the truth - they all left her and she is sort of still pissed off about it. (But whatever, she is dealing with it, right? And she honestly is more concerned about the man on the other end of the device then her own issues.) ] But that's just me.

So would you do - if you saw her again that is?
