Can I assume that you aren't asking out of idle curiosity, but some greater interest?

[ problems with the ren faire? they really don't know how to encrypt. thankfully tony exists to totally up those encryptions to 100 percent unhackable levels after the original pings to the people. say thank you alayne. ]

A girl is allowed to speak without worry of nosy individuals peeking into the best encryptions she could make. [ a beat. ] None of this is my business, I know, but figured if you were even trying to encrypt, you probably don't want everyone spying on it.

[ Alayne smiles, albeit modestly. It would be obvious to an attentive brother that there is much on her mind. ]

Anything is quite the estimation, Sirius Black. I do not think I could afford such a grand favor, and only hope that the order of simply snow will warrant a more modest cost.

[ Her voice is as prim as it always is whenever she speaks to Sirius. ] No sun, no sky and no clouds to darken them. It is enough to make anyone long for what is lost. Do you not agree?

[ A dip of her chin. ]

[ Thank you, Anthony. You do now how you're her favorite non-Stark Stark, right? Needless to say she looks a bit startled, a little bit sheepish and a lot grateful. ]

Anthony. [ She bows, of course. Habit. ] Forgive me, but I know only what has been taught to me through the good graces of King Robb's companion. She is gone now, I believe, and so my lessons have ended.

Well. I can certainly arrange it-- perhaps in one the spare rooms. Which friend, am I allowed to know?

[He falls silent for a moment, a little taken aback by that bit of information.]

I haven't, no-- but I hope-- well. I hope to be his friend again, at least. I don't know if I could be anyone's mentor.

[ Petyr's brow arches, but he keeps his expression neutral otherwise. ]

That would depend upon the man.

[Oh, but this is a welcomed primness, frustrating and engaging all at once. A glutton for this punishment, he replies cheerfully.]

Well put. And I do miss all of it, now that you're saying it. Especially sunlight--my kingdom for sunlight!--and, of course, snow.

Only snow. Where would this snow fall, if it could fall here? D'you think--in all the corridors, perhaps?

You were a professor — or perhaps, will be. A learned man and a maester in any case, if I understand the meaning rightly. [ Alayne nods. ] You were mentor to many.

[He gives her a small smile, embarrassed and a little sad.]

I'm almost sorry to have replaced him.

[ Her expression is not half as neutral, though her tone remains ever polite. ]

[ One may believe they are both gluttons for punishment, given how much toil and suffering they effect in one another's company. And yet— ]

I would not think to visit winter on the entire ship. [ Alayne presses her lips together. ] They are many who are not half as taken with its winds.

[ Alayne frowns, then shakes her head. ]

You should not think such things. You remain ever dear to those who care for you.

[It's a beautiful sort of suffering.]

I could do it without wind. That's the beauty of it, y'know, people who aren't as taken with it, pulling faces... [But he sobers a little.] All right, yeah, I'm overzealous, I know. You needn't even say it.

Where d'you hypothetically want this hypothetical snow, then? A particular floor, or a particular garden?

I, unlike you, Sirius Black, take no delight in the suffering of others. [ Given how well he seems to enjoy her bluster, it seems a fair enough statement to make.

A pause, considering. ] Can you really conjure it anywhere?

[Not suffering, he might correct, and take up the debate, but he is far too eager to be helpful in this--to win some small amount of favour. Conjuring indoor snow for a charming and occasionally prickly girl is practically his job, or at least his forte.]

I can, actually. I can do it right now, but if you give me a bit of notice, I can do a really good job of it, so good you'd be hard-pressed to say if it was conjured snow or the real thing. Does my lady want a demonstration now?

[ I am not your lady, would be her reply if there were not other, more pressing matters at hand. For all that Petyr has warned her from him, and despite how frustrating she found his company, Alayne finds it difficult to avoid conversation with Sirius Black. Take that as it may, for whatever worth it has.

Warily she eyes him. ]

Would it ruin my dress?

[ Deep blue satin and a bustle with pink ribbons. A barter from Miss Irene Adler, made by Petyr on Alayne's behalf. ]

[He shakes his head immediately, hardly letting her finish that question.]

It will be a very small and specific snowstorm, just for you, far away from the supremely lovely dress in question.
