[ An audio transmission kicks on around four in the morning. Cibo sounds out of breath and her voice is shaking. There's not much other than the shuffling of sheets. ]

Every time I fall into my restful state, I have these terrible... visions.

[ More shuffling. She sniffs up her runny nose. Sounds juicy. Gross. Then a cough. Now it's obvious that her voice was dry and suffering from the exhaustion. ]

In them, I'm in The City again. Killy is still gone, passengers of the Tranquility are there and the Safeguard have — I just feel like we're all really there. That we're all...

[ Her voice trails off. A small hum and the occasional zapping sound of her electrical prod breaks the silence and coaxes her to speak over it. ]

I've never felt like this before. Never so... I'm so tired. Can someone please tell me what this means? What's happening to me? Why do they feel so real?

I am looking for RESNIK or WARD regarding my wire-cables for connection to the Tranquility's technology. Sulu said that they may be able to help me. I am also still looking for XAVIER or DATA for information on the Science Department. I have already spoken with Doctor Elizabeth Ross, but I am looking for further confirmation.

Are you certain that your skills would not make you better suited to medical? Many members of the biological science department do some practical work, where possible, but the same is true of members of the medical staff. Our resources, staff and information are for the most part interdepartmental.

Where I am from, these two departments are considered to be the same. I will be more than able to work both. I will work where I am needed. All I would ask in return is access to the labs and technology.

I can not imagine there being any problem with providing access to the laboratories and their contents. You must of course apply to have yourself posted officially to the ship's crew. This will permit you greater access than others, and include you automatically in filters made to the science division.

Perhaps you could explain what you meant by downloading information?

With proper connections, I am able to link to systems and access their data. My cables do not work in this place. The technology is too foreign compared to my reality. I am working to find a way of adapting them.

Perhaps I can be of assistance. I have made no attempts to connect my system with the computer, given the inherent dangers in doing so, however, I am aware of the possibilities. I feel it necessary to warn you, however, that the last entity to link with the ship was rendered into a coma for some time as a result of the connection. It remains highly inadvisable.

If you are capable of the same then it may be possible for me to link directly to you. That would be a much safer way of testing my cables and I would be able to learn more of what you consider modern technology. In turn, you would have access to any of my data and memories.

If I were to be able to learn from other technologies such as yourself and gain knowledge from them, it would be very possible for me to avoid contact with the Tranquility's interface for information entirely.

Perhaps, were the circumstances controlled. My experiences linking with other biomechanical lifeforms have not always been positive. How quickly can you learn from simply observing data?

If I am directly connected to a system? It depends on the amount of information, but normally I can process vasts amounts within a short time.

The danger would be permitting you access to confidential information. My positronic brain is highly sensitive. Perhaps if the relevant data were downloaded into a unit separate of the ship's systems. That could be arranged.

I understand. I am cautious of outside access into my mind as well. Usually, I am able to control termination of the connection before any damage or corruption is enforced.

That would be preferable then. As long as I am able to view the information in safe conditions, then I do not mind what I connect to. Whenever you feel that this can be accomplished, please let me know.

Certainly. I suggest we isolate the computer and work on the solution together as soon as possible. We will have to ensure that both of our minds can be connected to the system, and that simple data can be transferred, before attempting anything larger. I am at your disposal whenever you wish to proceed.

As long as your technology is based on a binary code system, my mind should be able to translate it. We will test this to make sure though.

The only problem I have is my cables are not yet compatible with anything I have encountered on the ship. We may have to work on this first before I am able to access any hardware. Perhaps you should look at them or we should attempt to make new cables that fit me.
