For those of us who aren't wandering headlong into an exciting adventure aboard the first outpost most of us have ever seen - let's get to know one another better.

Why did you decide to stay? Really, when given the opportunity to go down to an alien outpost and explore, why did you decide not to go? Could be that it's a lot more fun down there than up here. Seems a shame to stay behind, actually.

Alien outpost doesn't exactly scream safe to me, but it could just be that I don't want to get anally probed.

I... don't. But I assume that it's equivalent to assuming that because I'm a skeleton, I'm going to rattle chains up and down the halls at all hours. Or wear a hooded cloak and carry around a scythe. It's discrimination.

You mean that wasn't you I heard the other night? [ It's a deflective joke because, honestly, he has a point. Not that it makes her any more likely to leave the ship when it docks, but he has a point. ]

I haven't been here long. I guess I've just wanted to play it safe.

So you took the cautious route. The safe one. The utterly boring and yet perfectly logical route wherein nothing exciting happens, but at least you won't risk being stranded on a space station. [cheerfully] I approve!

[ That actually gets a chuckle out of him, but there's the sound of fingers drumming against a table as he considers that answer. ]

Is that a real risk, or are you just playing it up?

Not sure. I always assumed that this was a bit like a cruise. If you miss the embarking period, you'll simply have to go up the coast to the next point if you want to get back on.

Except for the part where you most likely would never be able to find the next point, since nobody knows where we're going. Also, we're in space. Can't exactly hop on the train, can you?

It's a better excuse than "alien abduction" though, don't you think?

[ He listens, giving a little hum of acknowledgement, though he contributes nothing else to the conversation. The drumming of the fingers stops abruptly, however. ]

Skulduggery Pleasant. It's been a while, I'd say. Longer than I really care to think about.

[ You'd think that after waking up on a tube on an alien ship, he'd stop being surprised by unusual names. Not really the case. ]

Skeletons tend to cause mass panic in public spaces. I thought I'd do us all a favor and stick this one out.

That would be the best conclusion to come to, yes.

This place just keeps getting weirder and weirder. And it's still probably smarter to stay on board than land on some alien planet or whatever.

Safer, smarter and generally more sensible. Also, I don't believe it's a planet. More like a way station.

Yeah, I didn't pay a lot of attention to the announcement. I was focusing on that weird girl I just met who says she can see into the future, and how badly she flipped out after it went up.

God, this place is messed up.

Oh, yes, that. It is a bit messed up, isn't it? I'm sure her panic over the future is completely understandable. There will probably be horrible consequences for us stopping at Strela. [why does he sound so pleased by that]

I know you're nothing but bones, but could you try not to sound so excited about whatever way that outpost is going to kill us? Unless you know how to stop whatever's going to happen from happening.

I wished to know the ship more. [ Or rather look around it and get to know where things were. That and she was still mostly alone ]
