[Jesse appears neither excited nor distressed. He actually looks mostly tired, which maybe is to be expected from a new arrival. He's slumped over on his new bed with his chin resting in his hand, mumbling around his fingers:]

Yo. I'm Jesse. Albuquerque, New Mexico, U.S.A. 2009. Whatever. Holler if you know me.

[Is he bored or something? He acts as if this is routine.]

First thing: if there's any monsters and aliens and shit I gotta be looking out for, gimme a heads-up.

Second: anybody wanna grab some food? Is there food or is it all freeze-dried bullshit? I had freeze-dried ice cream once and it was totally lame, so like, please tell me they got burgers up in here. Funyuns? Something?

[Jesse glances down at his arm. He has plenty of tattoos already, but that bugs him, too.]

It's kinda Hitler-ish, ain't it?

[Harry pauses. He doesn't really have much experience in the Hitler arena.]

Maybe it's Space Hitler. Or wherever we are.

Just tell me I don't gotta worry about fighting Space Nazis.

You know what they say, man. Where there's Space Hitler, there's Space Nazis. [Yeah, Harry can't keep the chuckle out of the end of that.]

That would be my luck, seriously.

Naw, not exactly. But I seen some weird shit.

[Harry's surprised expression blinks onto the screen and he takes a moment to tap it a couple times.]

Weird like monsters and Darkness and whatever.

Darkness isn't bad most of the time.

Ain't talking about like your garden-variety darkness here. What I saw was like a disease. It ruined everything, turned it all to shit.

[Harry's tone takes on a firm note of interest.]

'Disease' in the scientific sense or did it affect more than just people?

[hostage]

Everything outside. The buildings all turned like condemned and the water turned poison and all the plants died... Only in the night. In the day, it was all normal.

Huh. [Harry takes a few moments to consider that.] Anyone find the source and did it follow you here?

[hostage]

Nah, no way it followed me here.

[pizzalord]

Have you tried it yet? [Because this is a great idea.]

I guess 'have you seen it yet' would be the better question. [Before muttering to himself,] Stars, Dresden, get your head together.

Ah, nah, not yet. I mean, I don't think it could reach us out in space anyway.

Really hope not, man. Don't think any of us want to deal with that kind of crap on top of being mostly stranded in space.
