[ Mattie doesn't stalk the comms like a lot of people do -- it's just not something she's used to doing, news doesn't come in lightning-quick transmissions back home, and navigating the system and the terminology is still an effort. But she knows enough to be aware that there's an illness making the rounds. An illness she's starting to think she might have succumbed to.
Still, from the sounds of it, she ought to be able to tough it out. Dizziness and fever? She's dealt with both before. She knows your lips turn blue when you're too cold, so she's careful to stay bundled up. But it's becoming more challenging than she likes to admit, venturing out to get meals or do the work she signed up for in the garden. Eventually, she breaks down and reluctantly decides to ask for help. ]
If anyone is coming near the gardens, would you be willing to do me a service, and bring me something from the kitchens?
Perhaps an extra blanket as well, if there is one to spare.
[ooc: Mattie is camped out in the garden, so if your character hangs out there at all, running across her is a definite possibility. Erik will be coming to take her to medbay, but the post is open for network/action tags both before that happens and after she's been admitted. ]

video.
I think the kitchen is pointless, Mattie. You're better off in the medbay.
video.
Is that where you are? You do not look well at all.
[ She's obviously doing better than he is, although her lips are tinged with blue and her face is clearly flushed from fever. ]
video.
[ Which is a lie, because Erik has no intention whatsoever to return to the medbay any time soon, but his own spirits are for once, deliberately kept up for her. He's ill, and noticeably so, and any attempt at trying to conceal that will hardly get them anywhere. ]
If you'll come with me, of course.
video.
I...do not think I need a doctor, but I will go with you to see one for yourself.
video.
[ And that much gets a laugh out of Erik, sick as he may be. ]
I had to be dragged there myself when I first woke up. [ At best, that gets a bit of fondness out of Erik, recalling the moments when Charles had to constantly cajole him into leaving their shared room for the medbay, and the persistent fights he put up.
So it's not unusual to see someone else fall sick, much like Mattie is, and certainly not unusual to see her respond identically. ]
Is there a reason you don't like them?

voice;
Caught what's going around, did you?
voice;
I am not convinced that is the case. It may simply be dyspepsia.

Camping out, are ya?
video;
I often camp in the outdoors, back home. I find it soothing.
video;
Camping was never my thing. Too much waking up cold and bears to worry about. You got someone bringing you a blanket?
video;
It is not as cold here as in the Territory, and there are no bears. Jack has brought me blankets, thank you.

I fear it is an epidemic.

Yeah. Let's just hope there's a cure, huh? Jesus, darlin', how long you been sick for?
action;
There seems to be a lot of doctors here, I am sure they will know what to do. [ She presses her lips together, reluctant to admit it's serious. ] Only a couple of days. When the fever breaks I will be fine.

backdated ACTION after her admission to the medbay!
But that had not stopped him from regret. Mattie Ross was a friend, a friend that needed help--even if it was only a help that would tell her to come to the medbay. So there is some relief when--later--Bran sees her among the rest crowded in the ward.
He is feverish by then, and his arms feel slow and weak, but when Alayne sleeps, Bran goes to Mattie's bedside.]
Mattie-- [He says her name first, in case she is lost in thought or in the same poor half-sleep that he slips into.] I am glad to see you.
backdated ACTION after her admission to the medbay!
She's dozing fitfully, her sleep disturbed by a fever that never seems to break, when Bran speaks her name. Her eyes open and she stares at him, frowning for a moment, until her consciousness catches up. ]
I am not glad to see you, Bran, if you are here because of the illness. But it is nice to see a face I know.

Yes--that's what I meant, too. Except I'm also glad to see you here--I heard you ask for help over the network, and I thought you might be ill. [Summer pads up just then, stopping to give the foot of Mattie's bed a cursory sniff.] But Alayne was very ill, so I was sitting with her.
Are you feeling any better? [It's somewhat of a silly question--she isn't, he sees the illness in her face--and he pushes himself a little closer still to her bedside.]

I think I am feeling worse and worse, but that is usually the way with sickness. It is always the most unbearable just before you begin to get well again.
[ Mattie slips her hand out from under the blanket, hoping to encourage him to come as close as he likes, and stay as long as he may. ] How is Alayne? Is your brother ill as well?
