[Jack looks quite ill as he comes on screen: there are dark circles beneath his eyes, and there's a faint sheen of sweat on his face. He also looks a bit thinner than he did, though no one might actually notice that one. It's not severe, after all.]

Listen, uh, I-- I know you guys don't know me too well, and you got a lotta other stuff on your mind, but, uh, help a guy out, yeah? I ain't had no cigarette in about four days and I'm dyin' for it. Anythin' anybody's got, you know? I promise I'll do somethin' for you in return, I don't give a damn what, but-- anythin'. Please.

[He tries for a winning sort of smile, rather fails, and shuts the communicator.]

In that case I'm glad I can help.

[ she pulls another one out of her pocket. ]

[He tugs out a book of matches and, with a practiced air, lights his cigarette.]

Please! Wanna walk, or you wanna sit in here?

[And he offers her his lit cigarette, ready to light hers.]

A walk might be nice. [ just so long as they don't run into kurt or blaine. she smiles and gratefully accepts the cigarette, she's forgotten how much she actually enjoyed them when she smoked regularly. ]

[Pushing the cigarette back between his lips, he hooks his thumbs into his pockets and heads out into the hallway.]

So, where you from? And when and all that?

[ she takes a drag on the cigarette. it feels so strange saying that. it seems so far away, almost like a dream - which scares her to think about. ]

New York, August o' 1899. I'd say I'm a long way from home, but I guess we both kinda are, huh? At least space travel was somethin' that could be done for you; I'd never heard o' it til here.

1899? Wow. That's pretty incredible. Sorry, I'm kind of into history. We have space travel, but nothing like this. Is it safe to say there are no aliens where you're from?
