[ Nathan is framed against the backdrop of the Oxygen Gardens rather than the dark walls of his quarters for once. He looks exhausted, frustrated, and in a certain amount of disarray. The more annoyed he is, the less elaborate his language is. ]
Certain people here might think prayer doesn't do anything, that the dead don't need them and the living shouldn't depend on them. Fact is that prayer is whatever you need it to be. Faith is a salve; it's courage, and it's comfort, reassurance and relief. Last month a guy named Hotspur took a shuttle out into the stars and asked everyone about their faith. What sort of meaning could there be to god so far away from home? The stark, cruel emptiness of space doesn't exactly inspire it.
I say look around you. All I ever wanted as a pilot was to go higher. We're as high as it gets, as close to the stars as we can ever come. We don't have much, but we have each other, and we have our faith--it's one of the few things that we can take with us wherever we go.
Hotspur and I talked briefly about forming a chapel, somewhere for people on board to come to practice whatever faith they have at home. Any faith, or even none at all. Some people just need a place to think. So that's what we're gonna do, starting with a service at oh nine hundred tomorrow for our crew mate. [ An edge of defiance, as though to dare anyone to say it's a bad idea. ] Anyone knows any funeral hymns, or wants to say something, share stories; this kind of thing isn't gonna work without you.
Now if you'd just hang on a few more seconds, Murphy'd like to say a few words. [ He swivels the camera around to face him. ]

[Oh, right! Once he gets over that deer-in-the-headlights look he's got going on right now, Murphy shakes his head and speaks:] Uh, what he said. [Doh. That's not it.] Well, I mean, erm... If we wanna get this thing off the ground, we'll need a place set up for people to go to. I can do it, but it isn't exactly a one-man job. It'll be a lot faster if for an extra set of hands helpin' me out.
Also, uh. We'd like to make sure that the gardens are fair game for at least a couple of hours. Wouldn't wanna step on any toes here by invadin' their space. Just, er... let us know if we are?

[There we go. Nathan gets all of the fancy pep talks. Murphy's straighter to the point in getting things done, no matter how awkward turtle he is. As Nathan picks up the comm again, the feed clicks off.]
