( 001 ) A U D I O → i dreamed i was missing, you were so scared
[ If Alice were so panicked right now, this would be a private feed, but she's freaking out too much to bother. Her breathing sounds a bit labored, too, and combined with the tone of her voice, it's probably fairly clear that she's running right now. ] Hatter, if you hear this, call me back immediately. Please. I need to know-- [ Her voice catches a little and there's a pause before she continues. ]
I couldn't find you and I need to know you made it through the jump. I saw that guy's - Hotspur's - post and saw what happened to him; I need to know you're okay. Oh, god, please--
[ The feed ends there. ]
ooc: backdated to about half an hour/forty-five minutes after the latest jump

VOICE
Alice, Alice, it's okay, I'm fine. Are you—?
VOICE
Where were you? I looked and I couldn't find you.
VOICE
[ didn't mean to worry you? he shouldn't care about worrying her. ]
VOICE
It's okay. I'm just glad you're alright. [ She's not moving anymore, that much should be obvious by how much calmer she sounds, though she still feels like she might throw up. ] We should work on some kind of system or something, just so we know the other's safe after the jumps or...
Well, just so we know the other's safe. [ There's so many other things that could happen here that she doesn't want to limit it to just the jumps but she doesn't want to say anything else out loud. Hotspur's post left a hollowness in her chest even though she had no idea who he was and talking about it might make it worse. ]
VOICE
We can—I dunno, meet up before each jump, walk to the stasis pods together. That way we'll be be next to each other when we get in and when we wake up. That sound acceptable to you?
VOICE
VOICE
she's been with him on this crazy ship from the beginning, and before that. granted, it was her arriving in wonderland that had set off the whole bloody problem in the first place, but still. familiarity breeds support. or something.
at least, that's what he's telling himself. ]
'Course I'm okay with it. [ he shakes his head. then: ] Where would we meet up? Before, y'know. Walking.
VOICE
[ She tells herself the only reason she wants to keep him as close as she does is because his face is familiar. Not that she trusts him or considers him a friend or anything; all of that is too much for her to accept. At least right now. ]
Maybe some place in the middle.
VOICE
[ and then he stops, because this—it's ridiculous. and what he's thinking is ridiculous. but it's a hell of a lot easier than walking to and fro like some half-mad jujub bird with its toes missing; why don't they just... ?
but no. is that too forward? ah, to hell with it; if alice is uncomfortable with the idea, she'll tell him. ]
Listen, Alice. Each room has two beds, right?
VOICE
[ The strange this is, she had considered it - briefly, back when the fear gas happened - but it was more a passing thought than anything she actually entertained. ]
VOICE
VOICE
She's not really sure how she wants him to answer that.]VOICE
of course it's just rooming. he didn't. wouldn't suggest anything other than that. ]
Like roommates. [ he forces a grin. ] Your virtue's safe, Alice. This is just a matter of... convenience.
[ another grimace. wrong word? he adds: ] And if it doesn't work out, we can always move back to our respective rooms.
VOICE
It does make sense, especially when it comes to situations like today, and she'd be lying if she said the idea of having someone in the room with her at night wouldn't be comfortable. With everything that's going on, she has a feeling that the sound of someone else's breathing might help her from freaking out in the middle of the night. ]
Do you want me to move into your room, or vice versa? Or does it matter?
VOICE
Yours. I'll move into yours. There isn't much to carry. [ there's the tea and the parka and the gun, which he hasn't told her about yet—but he will—and not much else. ]
VOICE
VOICE
Keeps me on me toes, at any rate.
[ then he exhales, rubs at his face again. ]
Alright. Okay. So when're we gonna do this?
