[ There's a slight noise like thin metal yeilding somewhat under weight, followed by a tap and a hollow sounding bang and multiple wires sliding against and past each other. This is all topped off with a series of muttered obscenities as Cat struggles to get her communicator up to face level, considering that she is currently somewhat lacking in room. There is a pause in which all that can be heard are a few short, shallow breaths. This has been quite a workout. She sounds frustrated and incredibly reluctant; help isn't something she usually asks for. ]

Anyone here want to tell me the secret to untangling wires? 'Cause it's a lot harder than it looks, and it looks pretty damn hard from afar anyway.

[ It isn't very much to go on, but this is partially because Cat doesn't really want to tell anyone that she has gone and trapped herself in a rather narrow ventilation shaft, and has become caught up in some random, unexpected sea of wires. She's not idiot, so she's hardly about to just yank the wires out of wherever it is they lead. Not that she thinks it'd do much harm in the long run, considering she's found one relatively small set of wires on an otherwise enormous ship, but she'd rather not risk it.

A good pair of wirecutters, then. Though I'd question which wires you're attempting to untangle. On a ship like this, it probably wouldn't be wise to cut them without knowing what they are.

I have a knife, but I'm not using it for exactly the reason you just said. I know fuck all about spaceships or whatever, and I'm not about to explode this place just for cutting up some damned cluster of wires.

Sensible, then. Why do you need them untangled? If leaving them is possible, that might be the best course of action.

[ There is a lengthy, lengthy pause.

Cat doesn't sound at all pleased to be making this admission: ]

[ She grits her teeth, a hissing breath sliding between her teeth. Her tone is getting progressively more frustrated. ]

Not really in the most accessible spot right now, so I'll have to be a bloody quick learner.

There was some loose panel or some shit and my foot went straight through it while I was trying- [ okay the panel was probably only loose because Cat kept landing on it while failing to climb into a section of the vent above her, but she doesn't want to tell him that ] Whatever, anyway, it's my ankle. It went into the sea of wires, won't come back out. Like the bloody things have a mind of their own.

[He nods, taking a moment to try and imagine the exact scenario. It would be better if she was using video, but he doesn't ask her to put it on; she's clearly made a choice to remain voice-only.]

You're going to need to reach in, feel around to see what the situation is. Don't try to pull out just yet, you're likely to make it worse or break something. Find the wires that are actually keeping your foot trapped and work on getting loose from them one by one, toes to ankle.

[ She grits her teeth irritably, wanting to retort with something unhelpful and contrary, but she manages to bite back the desire, nodding to herself even though it can't be seen. The sound of her trying to wriggle around into a more comfortable position where she can try what she's being told to do is audible, a mixture of thin metal yielding and quiet curses as Cat tries to fit herself into the compact space. ]
