'Try not to die.' Perhaps we should take that as a note of encouragement. [Listen closely or you might miss the barely discernible inflection of grim humor in his tone.]

As far as that list goes; 'influential' or 'disruptive' people it's been said, for the most part. I'll give odds it's a hit-list. [Aren't you heroes and villains proud of yourselves now, to have attracted the whatever-it-is's animosity. Let that be a vote for ambiguity.]

A hit list. What an interesting assessment, Snape.

Christmas. [A musing tone here, one that's mildly amused and confused both at the same time.]

A holiday, I assume?

A note of encouragement for stating the obvious? I'd expect the ship to give us more than just that.

Assuming that the ship itself is in fact capable of communicating anything other than usual space travel statistics, what more would it take to live up to your expectations?

A return home. Barring that, information. Aside from a threat and the months I’ve been here, I still have yet to learn much of anything new regarding the ship.

Looks like even passengers who've been here longer could say mostly the same unless they're referring to more specialized and technical aspects.
Even then, there are plenty of unknown variables that hinder our progress.
swagneto: (SO PRETTY MUCH TOPH OWNS IT)

[personal profile] swagneto 2012-05-26 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
It's those specialized aspects I need to pick up on. Can't have everyone else running ahead of me.

Weaknesses aside, what other variables are there?
syllogism: (Gonna meet my fate.)

I don't think either of us has been here longer than the other, which means that I can't say I've learned much more than you have.
It's just that there seems to be a lot more to consider beyond what we're seeing here with the smiley face hit list.
There's talk of AIs, the ship itself being alive, and that this can't be the work of some posers playing unsavory pranks. And while I don't doubt that the captain and commander own the damn space boat, I wonder who the hell chartered these voyages through galactic worm holes that cause demon possessions.
Who the hell built a ship to specifications like being large enough to house a space colony with hallways that rearrange themselves and lock people in or out of various parts of the ship?
Not that it's unnatural to focus mainly on things that most strongly evidence themselves, but it's also worth taking notes on things that are outside the box.

Both. The challenge is implied the moment you wake up in a completely novel area, and the statement of course, obvious nevertheless. Though I’d venture as far as to say if the ship is inclined to keep us on our toes, something more than just obvious statements would be preferred.

Maybe it's just a sadistic douchebag toying with randomly selected people from different places and times for the sake of doing so because it's got too much power and nothing better to do with it.

Wouldn't that be the perfect reveal, then? To find out it's someone drawn out of boredom for the sake of watching us run around like mere chickens.

We can dismiss time points, given that it seems like there is no correlation between our own home world and the situation here.

To each his own. What sort of purpose do you imagine is behind collecting intergalactic variable subjects, affecting them with cabin fever, and placing them in high stress scenarios aboard an enigmatic space colony?
Could one ever justify the objective behind such an experiment?

[personal profile] syllogism 2012-05-29 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Then do you think our objective is to survive anything they throw at us, or to inevitably survive one another as probable representatives of our respective races or species?
syllogism: (Man、no.)

Sounds like you agree more with the former. That's cool.
Nothing wrong with discoursing theories and possibilities. But I've heard that many would rather avoid doing so.

Maybe you'll get invited to the next one, mate. Save you a slice of cake?
