[There’s a little shuffling and confusion as the camera is adjusted to just the right angle. A frowning face takes the place of the blurred hand that blocked the lens a moment ago and Tadashi fiddles with the feed a moment more before stepping back.

He hesitates, then pulls a baseball cap onto his head after running his hand back through his hair.

There. Everything is settled. Tadashi tugs a lopsided smile into place, but his expression is still thoughtful.]

This is Tadashi Hamada speaking.

[Another hesitation. He runs one hand over his face.]

My brother and I have been on board this... this ship for a few days now. I haven’t met many of you in person yet, so I wanted to go ahead and introduce myself. I'm taking the time to go through all of the information that's been provided and I'm still working on getting my bearings, but I just wanted to say that I'm willing to help out wherever I'm needed for now.

Back home I was a student of robotics. I was working with AI systems as well. If that's of any use to anyone, please don't hesitate to call on me.

[Tadashi offers something of a half smile, reaches forward, then disconnects the feed.]

[ You're new. Sam's new. This is totally a way to break ice, right? ]

Do you know any robotics like... body augmentation stuff?

Not... specifically.

[It's not his specific area of study, but he is Tadashi -- he's skimmed a little bit of everything if it relates even vaguely to what he wants to do.]

I understand the basic mechanics well enough. Are we talking replacement limbs?

[dreamcrutcher]

Not. Exactly? I have spinal injuries that fuck with my legs sometimes. It's under control now and I'm on crutches...

[ Sam isn't good with describing technological things that she desires. ]

...but I didn't know if there was a thing that existed that could, stabilize it?

That's not something I'm trained for.

[He really wants to help, though.]

This place has some impressive tech at their medical lab. Talk to the guys there first. See what they say, then get back to me, okay?

See what ideas they have. If it's something I can help with, I'll do whatever I can.

[ ehhhhh, see about that... ]

I'm not really sure I'm super interested in spending time with medical. But maybe someone around there knows something about it...

[Tadashi is checking in a few days later. He can't just let it drop after she asked him for help initially.]

[ Oh, hey. It's that guy. The robotics guy! ]

Oh— Yeah! I mean, not exactly. I've been— [ Uncomfortable sound? ] —adjusting at my own speed?

Honestly, I haven't even socialized. I should though. I really should.

[Have a wry smile. Tadashi knows how that goes.]

I think it's probably important to reach out right now. If you can help it, don't isolate yourself.

[Pause.]

I don't know if it would help, but I'm free if you ever need any reinforcements.

[Without college coursework to deal with, he's got way too much free time.]

[ Ahhh, ye ol' seek comfort through others wisdom. This guy is definitely in the makings of becoming a doctor. ]

Reinforcements? Physically, mentally, or alcoholically? [ Joking. Totally joking... ]

Er....

[He's caught off guard for a moment, then laughs.]

I'm not actually a big drinker, but I was thinking I could go with you to talk to the med bay staff. I have a few things I need to bring up with them, as well.

[ Less exciting, but at least she wouldn't have to go talk to them by herself? That's a plus. ]

Yeah. Guess I'm good with that too. When are ya thinking?

[He's boring. He's lame. He's a nerd. One day he'll learn to be exciting! Maybe.]
