It's not the first or last odd thing I've seen pop up since our recent jump. Any ideas what it could mean or what the hell is going on? [beat.] No pun intended. I thought it was it was the ship but even Jack Harkness isn't acting like himself.

[this is his first time really reaching out to Tommy and Tillman, but Jim is going out on a ledge- or a hunch- here. he's been thinking about this for a while, and he figures it doesn't go over well with these guys it probably won't go over well with the rest of the security team that was supposed to be working the ship.]

Oh, we noticed. [ It's a short, clipped, sarcastic reply. ] There's not a whole lot anyone can do to prevent what happens on this ship, let alone the two of us. I think that's been made clear, don't you?

[ Messages on the walls. Contracting, expanding hallways. Not something you can ignore. Don't believe everything they tell you. ]

We stayed low. [ Low, and out of the limelight; it wouldn't have succeeded in the first place, but drawing attention to themselves during a mutiny? Not the best plan. Never a good one. ] Sometimes patience is the best tactic.

[ Then, a pause. Resnik's hand tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. Her mouth pulls into a frown. There's something there that's darker than plain confusion. ]

As for our mystery guest—we're just as in the dark as you are.

No on both accounts. Who else have you noticed acting unusually?

I'm still- [KINDA SCARED. but.] - I mean, if you need somebody, I'm still here, and still willing to help out.

You know what else is a good tactic? Making sure your crew know who you are. It's not much of a morale booster when the people in charge don't even address the topic.

[he's not keen on that kind of command, and maybe he's out of line to say something like that straight up to a senior officer but it sure as hell wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last.

his gaze narrows, though, because mutinies aside, this was more important.]

He's the first one I've really noticed. [he pauses, thinking of Heather. she'd been particularly catty, even though he knew she didn't really like him, but... that had seemed excessive.] Aside from the belligerent group we apparently dragged in.

[he's relieved, a little, that she hadn't changed her mind. he smiles encouragingly.]

I'll be there the whole time.

[ Morale? On this ship? Hilarious.

She shrugs one shoulder, shifts, keeps eye contact. Not disregarding his point, but closing in on what's clearly more of an issue—more than petty arguments on how to handle authority, or the authority itself.

On to heels of his accusation—curious, almost: ]

Dietary needs.

[He was too busy fretting over governmental schemes to notice that bit, last time around. In other news, there's a face to this voice, and an intrigued face, at that.]

[ a moment as she re-reads the broadcast. ]

Half your ship locked down and your crew missing, doors with mysterious messages, skeletons, don't believe everything they tell you?

[the lie is in her face, the corner of her mouth, like something forbidden. he makes an all encompassing gesture, sharp with his right hand.]

There was something wrong with this ship before this guest didn't show it's face. And you knew it, didn't you?

That's what I said. [he's maybe slightly confused as to how you missed that.]

I can't figure it out. It has overtones of the Bible, obviously, and splices together Shakespearean quotes specifically about the devil.

It's come to our attention that not everyone on the ship eats the way, say, humans might in order to survive. [how did Spock put it?] Some are from races that are... parasitical in nature.

Exactly.

[fucking so many hackers on this ship it's makin' him crazy.]

Given enough time we could probably get numbers out of it but... [time, he's found, is not usually his friend.]

[He's slightly confused right back, and only vaguely grumpy, which might be an achievement in and of itself.]

And you don't think that's dangerous? Asking for civilian volunteers?

There are some on the ship [okay one but whatever] who, we've discovered, have dietary needs that aren't as simple as eating the way humans do. One particular case caused the attacks not long ago when one of the passengers had been starving, and in an effort to circumvent it happening again we've been attempting to find volunteers willing to help out.

It's medically supervised.

[like donating blood. only less fun.]

[ preaching to the choir over here, damn. ]

- But there may not be much of it before they make their move.

[ a sigh, then a beat. ]

What have the others had to say?

Good to know. But I'd interpret it to be more of a security issue than purely medical. Worst case scenario.

[If he only knew, he would wait for a nice clinical description.

As it is, there's a moment or two of blinking at the video feed. Well. That is. Yeah that makes shit harder to deal with here. Annnd somehow he is still more interested in the management aspect.]
