[Wanda has been wondering the answer to this question for a couple of weeks, so she's finally going to present it to the network via text: ]

For those of you who have had people from your own home worlds show up here as well, can I ask this sort of simple question: Do you often find that one of you remembers more about events from home than the other does?

I just ... am wondering if that is something normal here.

Let's put it this way: I have at three year old daughter. Not only has she twice turned up here fully grown, I've also met her grown daughter.

Oh -- wow. That sounds like quite surprising family reunions. So this place *does* like to mess with timelines.

Absolutely. I've had to open more than a few conversations with the words "You expect me to be dead." There's a certain expression I've come to recognize.

Wait, it even counts with people who are supposedly dead? I was told some things from friends about what happens a few minutes after I last remember, but I didn't know if people came in here all the time like that, not remembering things others do. Not if people who die later could find themselves here, but...

The differences can be quite extreme. I should never even have met Jaina, if it weren't for whatever brings us defying everything we know about time.

My lady aunt remembered working with a man for many years whose great-grandmother, who was also here, wasn't even married yet.

[He hasn't seen another nation since he left his own world, so he can't speak for himself, but... that should say enough.]

I have no one from my world here. I just wanted to say that 'normal' probably doesn't apply to anything we experience.

Apparently this is not common.

There is a person who is from my own world but from much further in the future then I recall it being.

That sounds like it must have been quite confusing. Or were they not so bothered by it? I can imagine some might have different reactions than others.

Well, you know, as normal as we can get on an alien planet. With two moons. And an acid river. And .... other ... stuff.

Okay maybe 'normal' was a bad word choice.

Well at least I'm not the only one. Though it does seem a bit strange, people coming in with more memories than others, or less than others. Kind of makes me wonder what the point is, too.

Some remember you with different hair?

I suppose a fancy new look is something to look forward to, if you ever see home again, yes? Especially when here, and so nice haircuts and such are out of the question.

How many years ahead?

A growth spurt also sounds like something to look forward to if you ever see your home again. You'll probably be taller and faster than all of them. :)

I am sorry you don't get to meet her back home due to death. Well, I know everyone eventually dies since that's how people work - we live, we die - but you might know what I mean anyway. At least this place does provide that - having more time with family, or just to be alive.

yeah, it is a common thing here. i've experienced it myself. [both with being behind in memories with some of her friends and other times remembering more than others too]

It's a strange thing, knowing the time and manner of my own death. But I try to treasure the stolen moments with those from my future. Jaina's a wonderful young woman, I'm glad to have met her.

Still, that would be quite unsettling on a personal level, wouldn't it?

So it's just essentially another way we get messed with by being here. As if the planet environment itself didn't do apparently enough of that as it is to begin with.
